  1. is this it.. I suspect these are cheaper..
  2. well I look at new stuff and for the most part am amazed at what someone else came up with.. this little gizmo is an alternative to a carabiner.. or a small shackle if you want to.. its not rocket science to work out what it is, what it might be useful for.. as a carabiner less worry of side load, as a shackle, no screwing of any bolts.. good, we now know its advantages over both bits of alternative equipment.. now comes the cost.. is it cost effective as an alternative to both.. If your like me, costs comes after quality.. so if I could buy a handful of these things I would.. Thats not to say its gonna be for everyone.. I have a zigzag, thats not to say other people can't get by with a Prussic hitch is it..
  3. Watch it Ratman, you damn sheep shagger..
  4. I think you'll find I do know what I'm talking about... I'm well researched into the subject..
  5. what you tryin to get at.. its a glorified shackle and you know it.. and I don't need to be an expert tree surgeon to see it... none the less, I'm sure its a useful piece of kit. as to brain surgery, I'm sure thats the most over rated field in surgery..
  6. looks like an expensive shackle to me..
  7. hahaha well you asked, I gave you an honest answer.. mind you that was when I was at my peak, I've I've deteriorated since then.. probably down to being able to beat the lower percentiles now.. so you've no need to worry.. we're about equal footings now, I'm sure..
  8. hahahahaha stop taking everything I say too serious you damned numpty... as to how hard I am, should better be put how hard I was.. I tried to measure that once.. the closest I could come to was put myself on a spectrum.. of a typical group of one hundred fella's I'd put myself in the top five.. perhaps typically the top seven percent if I'm honest.. but, you have remember MOST people over exaggerate how hard they are.. its why you get a load of fights in pubs.. its how they used to get a good thrashing by your truly back in the day...
  9. I've wondered about that as well, that is the shock load being only half at the top as opposed to something base tied.. which is why I imagined the rope wrench had some distinct advantages when I looked at that thread last week.. not being much of a tree surgeon but somethin of a thinker, I was wonderin if a metal artificial hinge might be invented to tie to both ends of the stem before it goes over.. this artificial hinge would take most of the shock forces out of play... once it was over, you lowered your stem safely.. I was thinking of this the other day... now winter on its way I have time to think about these kind of things..
  10. Interesting, a damned coward since 2005...
  11. Yea like you leaving Britain to move to France.. you'd rather give up and run away as opposed to stay and face the country and all it throws at you head on... when the shit hits the fan I'll be here, where I belong.. I wont be running nowhere with or without a nickname on an internet forum..
  12. If someone wants to burn a flag then let em, someone wants to burn a bunch of poppies let em, if someone wants to burn an effigy of greenfill tower then so what.. as it happens I was sick of the over saturation of greenfill tower reports two days in.. I'm sick of it every time its mentioned.. I don't care about the whole story surrounding it. I'm glad someone burned an effigy.. not that I'm glad anyone was injured in the actual event but the fkin over reporting.. Reminds me of the Liverpool disaster at Sheffield.. talk about milking a disaster for all its worth.. Remember, our soldiers fought so we could say what we wanted when we wanted to say it.. the consequences of what we say should be the social stigma it engenders, not fkin policemen turning up and making dumb arrests or corrupt charges.. Tommy Robinson was such a victim. the bent low life PC judiciary.. This is what we fought against, this is what we should fight to defeat... cowardice and corruption.. As to stop and search, a word springs to mind.. cowardice.. the failure to act on account of the fear of the consequences.. The left and the right are being infused with this cowardice daily.. if stop and search saves lives, then stop an search it is.. it works and has been proved to work.. bring it on and damn the consequences..
  13. yes I do think things through, thats why I suggested it.. stop and search works thats a fact..
  14. I can rectify the situation overnight.. increase stop and search twenty fold.. fk the pc outrage, its their good intentions that are getting people killed and maimed.. bunch of cowards and low life's that they are..
  15. and of the three people giving opinions only one matters.. all you can do is ask again and point out other expert opinion is that the tree needs cutting back.. I'd have the council man back and see if you can change his mind.. barring that its a case of sucking it up..
  16. wouldn't a power barrow be better for the job.. I'm sure they're faster than a tracked barrow..
  17. I thought of that, then thought it wouldn't take much to design em for tree work.. you know, a bigger meatier version..
  18. I wonder if these might be useful for tree work... looks like a good idea...
  19. I think its a good idea to store batteries in the house during the colder months.. thats always been my concern with battery powered equipment, freezing temps running down the battery life..

After reading this its a wonder anyone bothers... its a wonder why anyone wants a car mind these days.. paid a fine, 450 earlier this year for not sorning my van, this week a fine for no insurance, 50 quid.. didn't even know I had no insurance.. got another threatening letter the other week about sorning the same van I got fined for.. I had it in mind once I'd been fined it was done and dusted.. no, months later they start all over again.. meant to be buying a downgraded Iveco, but just now I fancy getting it to ram the damned VOSA offices for pissing me the fk off.. had to phone VOSA up to get a new log book just so I could sorn my old van.. another 25 quid.. a fkin joke...
  21. After you've polished em up, invest in a bit of oil or grease to rub the axe heads down with after use.. If you're like me and know more than anyone else about everything, including keeping axe's from rusting up. you'll spend years finding rusty tools till one day you'll remember that good sage advice someone gave you twenty odd years back.. Use an oily rag to clean your tools after use....
  22. They might imagine that if they go through you, the lads doin the work will be doin it for you as much as them and not fk em about..
  23. my point was if you took to much on then let it go.. let someone else do the work who can cope with its demands.. If I was someone employing a fella to look after my grounds and found he'd sold the job on, I'd sack the new guy before he could get anywhere near me just to piss the fella off.. after all, I took the first bloke on on account of trust and reputation, why would I trust him to find me a new guy when his main focus was screwing money out of the new fella and not looking after my interests..
  24. instead of trying to squeeze some cash out the contract why not give them to someone else instead. its obvious you don't want to do em yourself... or can't for some reason.. Why must you default to your own greed before doin the decent thing and letting someone who can and wants to, take on the job without the expense of buying work for themselves.. I've never understood this selling rounds business.. or buying em for that matter.. finders fee's are another concept that drives me round the bend.. if I know someone that wants a job doing and I know someone willing to do it.. I'm more than willing to pass on the info without the need to stiff em for ten percent of their wages..
  25. blow em in a pile and mow over em.. pick up with mower after you've shredded a few times.. Don't bother with a petrol blower with a vacuum added on it.. you'll spend all day unblocking it.. waste of time.. the billy goat sounds like a plan but they have there own problems humping them around and being able to get to the area you have to suck leaves up in.. another hassle you can do without..
