  1. You're not beyond the wall. That's all that matters. (GOT reference)
  2. That's about it. Winter advantages: cooler, less leaves, can have fires, flask of tea especially nice. Winter disadvantages: rains a lot, get wet, dark on the way to work. (I'm home by 4pm anyway, I'm a lazy bastid)
  3. [ame]https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TrjdV-7ABQg[/ame] Tormund is good, here he is critiquing Jon Snow's pecker.
  4. Come on then, let's see your ginger beard, bet it's not as thick as Tormund's.
  5. Agreed, it's all silly, there's already been a serious wrist injury in the women's volleyball, luckily I'm ambidextrous so ready for the final.
  6. It had nothing to do with low prices, race to the bottom, pressure from pen pushers or anything like that. One guy made a wrong decision and it doesn't matter if he was being paid £5 or £5000.
  7. Well then that's done then, and as I say every Sunday night to my wife "that's another week closer to the grave" It's being so positive keeps me going.
  8. Intriguing! I'd like to have had a crack in Germany, and learnt the lingo.
  9. Chainsaws aside, how come you get to travel around the UK and Europe as a climber? How do you get the work in Europe and whereabouts do you go? Sounds like a good gig, I'm far too old and settled for that of course, just curious.
  10. I think that's probably because they live in houses surrounded by large trees, rather than a monopoly on idiocy.
  11. Great filming, and some really good music for a change! You must have been relieved that big top worked itself free from the other trees, that can be a pita.
  12. Nice hedge Jonny, do you do it every year?
  13. I was told anytime is good except when they bleed in early spring. I've done them all year round to no ill effect.
  14. That last one one the long ladder, I can't watch that. Guy might have been killed.
  15. It was one of those early really really bad ones that Reg Coates ran over. I got the upgrade kit that Stihl supplied to bring it up to spec, along with a good old 14mm hole in the exhaust it's a ripper. I also have a bog standard more recent one that makes a little less noise but cuts as fast (well very very nearly!) Get you cordless drill out!
  16. [ame] [/ame] I know I've shown it before, but.. My 201 "struggling" deep in the cut!
  17. Put a 14 inch on a 201 or a 540. It's just a waste of power otherwise.
  18. Great pics, thanks for posting. That second pic looks like a tricky (scary) piece of work.
  19. Sadly my creation fell to pieces like a circus clowns car within half an hour.
  20. The whole story.... I heard that the faller saw a mugger running away from a handbag theft and cleverly changed the direction of the fell and dropped the tree on his head preventing his escape. The guy cocked it up, that's the whole story. Bad luck for him is when someone filmed it. I'm glad no one followed me around with a camera for the past 20 odd years. Re. Picking the video to bits, what do you expect other tree workers to do? Where it's a bit out of order is when people start bringing the AA into it.
  21. Made up a little box this morning, for collecting stuff when I cannot be bothered to switch from the grab to the bucket. I know what you're all thinking, "that guy is wasted climbing trees, he should be a master joiner or something, the craftsmanship is breathtaking" You're right, the world of carpentry is missing a genius.
  22. 12 is too short for dismantles (IMO) I had 12 on my first 020, then 14 on the second, will stick with it for the foreseeable.
