  1. Ok thanks. When it started going higher then slowed down when I filled it I started thinking maybe it's not running right most the time. I haven't really got any comparison it's pretty much the only saw I ever use
  2. Hi I've got an old stihl 038 AV super. When I was using it today it suddenly started max revving higher than normal. It did it a couple of times then ran out of juice. When I refilled it it went back to how it was before. I wondered if this means something about the carb set up. Just to add, its the first tank of fuel I've put through it since switching to stihl oil instead of some cheap stuff I got down the garage. Thanks for any advice
  3. I don't buy any. £120 for a old stihl 3-4 years ago. That wouldn't get me two loads of logs
  4. Well the novelty isn't wearing off in my house. Log burner been fitted 5 years now and I still love it. I don't see lighting it as a chore at all. Just biding me time til the kids are big enough to carry a bag of logs in haha
  5. Not as many as me to be fair but that's entirely the army's fault haha
  6. You've got to look at the blocks on pallets and they normally have HT stamped on meaning heat treated, so safe for burning
  7. Well my mate who let me try his small gransfors has since bought a large as well and let me try that so I thought I'd give people my opinion on them both. The Large was nice to use and dealt with most things. Easier than swinging the maul and never felt the need to get the maul out the shed. But when splitting nice straight stuff the small really is a pleasure, and you can work fast with it and easily one handed if necassary. Still a hard choice to make for me unless i have around £180 woth of axe in the shed and alternate depending on the wood. Not sure the wife would be impressed with that!
  8. I've got some birch split in a heap at the moment with no shelter. Will it be ok like that for a few weeks. Thought about a tarp but didn't know if it could make it go mouldy if there's no air flow Thanks
  9. I'd be interested mate but do you need it taken that day. I may be able to collect on the evening
  10. He's put a postage cost on this £2.80. I'm sure it's a mistake but I wonder what would happen if someone in Devon bought it then demanded it hauled from Norwich for a couple of quid haha
  11. teach her to tell the difference between oak and pine. Worked for mine
  12. I always wondered how many of the saws on eBay are knock off. Father in law has had van and store broken into in the past. Was cleaned out at the store
  13. I thought wood chip would be incinerated for energy reclamation or whatever it's called. Most the stuff that goes to the council tip near me if its not recycled its burned. To produce electricity I imagine
  14. A local firewood supplier got into trouble for improper accounting but now he keeps a log book.... Sorry I'll stop now
  15. And try a start then remove the plug to check if it's wet before you start looking for a spark. Just to save removing the plug more than necassary
  16. Seen similar from a blocked fuel line. Someone had done a fuel sender with silicone instead of the cork gasket! In truth there's any number of things that could cause this. Fuel starvation, lack of air, possibly running on 3 cylinders. If the revs are dropping off in line with the speed your clutch is probably ok though
  17. Do t know if anyone on here is linked to the above company but they rang in to Steve Wright on Radio 2. It said they're from Dorset but branches everywhere :laugh1: (Might be Devon ) Tickled me anyway so thought I'd share it
  18. Probably the same. Less if busy more when I'm bored. I consider it educational though haha
  19. This cracked me up sure it wasn't a laughing matter at the time though
  20. Don't know what they cost but some of them trail cams have SIM cards in and the images can be sent to your mobile phone. So you could receive the images of the scrote as he nicks the camera.
  21. I guess I should start saving then. Any suggestions for an occasional user. Thanks

    Trousers

Just wondered how many people have actually been saved by their safety trousers or boots. And the circumstances. I only use a saw at home for firewood and do t have them, but considering buying some. Not sure I really feel much at risk though at what I do. Is more climbers who are at risk
  23. It's all the same stuff I'm fairly sure. HC makes sense actually now it's said there's plenty around here. I was told it's been lying around months so maybe that's why the buds aren't what you expected to see now?
  24. Last one
  25. I'm struggling on this phone haha
