  1. Thanks mate. Maybe I could have tidied up first ey but never mind it's not a show home haha
  2. I believe this is a villager. It's around 30 years old and was in my father in laws house before he replaced it with a more modern one. His wife has never forgave him Me and the wife soon snapped it up though and gave it a home. Can anyone confirm it's what I think and what the output rating is on it please
  3. I'll need to have a proper look to find the leak then. It's been doing it for a while. I was storing it on an absorbent pad but now I drain it before I put it away. It just looked like it was coming from there after it had sat for a while, while I was splitting what I'd cut
  4. Had the saw back out today and there was no juddering. Looks like I might have over tensioned the chain. Sorry for being a div I have got oil leaking from this white cap below the filler though. Is this easily repaired or replaced. I have had a bit of a try at unscrewing it but didn't try too hard as I don't know if it is threaded or what
  5. Yes mate. Just seen your reply after I posted my last one:thumbup1:
  6. The new chain is a stihl oilamatic same as it replaced. I've checked the av mounts and they seem good. Just to add I used it once and it was good the. The second time I used it this started. I'm hoping from Graham's suggestion maybe I over tightened the chain but I'll have to wait until I've some more cutting to check this theory and I'll let you l know. Thanks for the replies. Hopefully it's not the clutch bearings
  7. It's a stihl 038 and I was mostly cutting pine, and a bit of beech. It's the correct chain according to what's stamped on the bar ( same pitch and links as previous chain which never had this problem ) and it's fitted the right way round. I didn't check the mounts though
  8. The last time I used my saw it was juddering as I started each cut. The chain is new and sharp, and was oiling well and properly tensioned. I can't think of anything else to check. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
