  1. Any one seen these fitted before. Most CO alarms were in the £40-50 bracket so these seem cheap for dual purpose but surely it wouldn't be on the market if it wasn't up to the job FireAngel SCO5Q Combination Smoke & CO Alarm | Smoke Alarms | Screwfix.com

    The Dogs!

No offence to them that have them but I'm not much of a fan of most pedigree breeds that are only bred for show as it normally brings all sorts of (expensive) health problems. I think you could do a lot worse than something from the kennels. I love my lurchers. Calm natured and intelligent and eager to please. The terriers and spaniels are good dogs as well that haven't been spoiled by ridiculous KC standards
  3. Thanks gyp but I was hoping for a recommendation from someone whose had work done if you know what I mean rather than taking pot luck out the phone book

    BBQ help

Does it need to cook through fully. I'd think you could just cut off the cooked bits as you go so long as you've set up a bit in advance to get a decent bit to go at, you wont be keeping people waiting. I could be wrong though, only ever ate hog roast never done one
  5. Can anyone recommend a good sweep in Hampshire please. Been reading through other posts first before asking but cant find any details of anyone. It has opened my eyes a bnit though to the dangers of someone half arsing the job with the wrong brushes for flue type ect. Our house had no chimney when built so has an external double walled S/Steel flue Thanks, Mick
  6. Yeah that is a big drop in weight. And if a green log is 40-50% moisture and seasoned only 15-20% so he's saying 30% of the logs volume is 50% of it's weight. Dunno if that would be right for pine. Maybe
  7. I only season my split logs for a summer as I can't store 3 years worth of logs and I don't buy them in. But have no problems burning them when the temp drops sept October time. I've thought about weighing green logs in the past then monitoring their weight loss but tbh just can't be arsed haha
  8. I sort of do haha. Too much of my working day is spent at a desk these days! Hate it
  9. Thanks for the replies. Maybe I'll just stick to my maul and saw anything that's too tough
  10. It's disgusting. I agree with commando that they should lose their charity status as they have become to focused on pursuing a political agenda
  11. Seen grenades on eBay from £7.50 up to £25. Do you get what you pay for with these things or is there not much difference between them. They all look very similar but if there are good and bad ones what are the good ones. Thanks
  12. I wondered why the last lot of beech I split was so tough. It had been in rings for a good while in full sun. Every days a school day
  13. Or right I think I'm with you now. It's better in the round if it need to be outside for storage purposes. I thought maybe there was a benefit to the firewood at having a couple of years in the elements. Thanks mate
  14. I get what you mean about the difference between green wet, and rain wet. But if wood is split soon after felling or falling and then gets below 20% moisture in say 9 months instead of 2 years, why bother leaving it long for all this time
  15. Is there any benefit to being left outside for these long periods rather than just split and covered
  16. Is there a difference between seasoning and drying firewood. Some of the threads I've been reading through are talking about seasoning in the field in lengths for a year or more. Then splitting and drying under cover for a few months. Does it not speed up the process to split as early as possible to expose more surface area of the wood.
  17. Thanks for all the pointers alycidon. We only put wood in it but can't say what's been through it in the last 30 years.
  18. Sorry I didn't realise there'd been more comments on this. The baffle plate on mine has a lip on one edge and your right it's a bit out of shape as well. I'm not sure what the right way for the lip is to be facing is but I've got it facing down and rear. The baffle isn't as wide as the chamber either and just sort of balances on a couple of pegs. I've knocked it off a couple of times putting too many logs in!
  19. Looking for something that's gonna help me ID what I'm picking up to burn. I've seen a couple of Apps for iPhone but they didn't have reviews. And some of the tree encyclopaedia type books are covering so many species that I'm probably not going to encounter round Hampshire. Thanks, Mick
  20. And the upper view
  21. Inside picture. We need new fire bricks
  22. Thanks very much
  23. LMAO at stubby and white noise Inside will have to wait until tomorrow though as it's lit now. Sorry
  24. I'm not sure what you mean by fire bars. It has a solid base inside there's no grid
  25. The main body is approx 21x10x19" or did you mean the entire thing
