  1. Just bumping this as I'm interested in what the OP should do with those crotches
  2. I think some are focussing on the wrong points here. Its irrelevent whether ALL farmers own guns or that non farmers can own guns. The point is if the farmers aren't the ones pulling the trigger, they are the ones who decides who shoots what on their land. And if they're not behind this re-introduction it will fail. But it appears no one is asking landowners their views
  3. Now my log store is full ready for next year Ive got a turfor winch, my chopping block, a spare pallet and saw horse all on the driveway homeless. Wife's over the moon
  4. Can't stand the show myself. As someone who loves to see dogs working in their field, whether it's a lurcher coursing rabbits or collies herding sheep. Seeing what the kennel club has done to some of our old working breeds such as Bulldogs, mastiffs, cavalier spaniels I just think it's the biggest crock of s***
  5. True John but I'm the only one in the street with a log burner . These houses didn't have chimneys we put in an external flue
  6. This is all we've got left to burn. Then that will be filled up to the window sill. It's reasonably well covered and South facing so dries a treat there.
  7. Still can't get two images on one post
  8. I know there's a thread for you log guys but thought I'd start one for homeowners so the pros can take the piss Here's mine to start I've had a measure up and it's about 5m3 at that height, so probably got 4.75 ish as I've left gaps between each pallet so every 1.2m
  9. I put slaymore down. So long as dogs and chickens can't get at the grain I've never had a problem of anything eating the dead rats. And my dog is a working lurcher. My wife even left a rat in the run all day yesterday waiting for me to get home. Hens never touched it. I used to use traps and shoot them at night but only poison seems to wipe everything out.
  10. Looking at the picture would you even break even if you sold that as logs. Forgetting for the moment the man hours needed to extract and process it. And tidy the mad cows garden afterwards haha
  11. That was my intention. to be fair the cutters dont take too long anyway so if I need a jig to go with it i wont be buying one. Just need a couple of the small grinding stones for the rakers
  12. Or you could just give it all to a divorce lawyer if your wife ever reads this post
  13. I was looking for a grinding stone that i thought might be handy for taking rakers down a bit quicker than my oregon file but found these at the same time. Dremel 453 Chainsaw Sharpening Grinding Stones Pack of 3 | Rotary Tools Accessories | Screwfix.com Only a 5er for 3. Anyone used them before? Thanks
  14. How much is the bounty. The courses you're looking at is gonna cost around £6-800 depending on location and if you need accommodation
  15. Thanks for replies. Sounds like that one is in the right place for the stove. He never mentioned the gas boiler needing a CO alarm but I'll probably get one in that room as well (also downstairs) Thanks again all
  16. I got one a while back and it sits just above head height near the fire. When the gas boiler was inspected the plumber said it should be on the landing because the alarm might not wake us up from where it is. I haven't moved it because I think if it was up the stairs you could be in the living room full of carbon monoxide before the alarm alarms. The manufactures guidance also said to place near the likely source of CO. What's others thoughts on this. Or any stove installers know the guidelines please. Thanks
  17. whats the link
  18. I've sometimes seen the owners of the cottages supplying the logs at ridiculous mark ups
  19. Best place to sell them would be on one of the hundreds of facebook crafts pages. Saves ebay fees. You might even find something similar and be able to get a feel for what they're worth
  20. I just bought a pair of these. Comfortable enough for an hours driving I found out the other day. Im a home firewood cutter same as you so didnt want to spend a fortune Oregon Yukon Chainsaw Trousers Type A
  21. Haha im a born and bred northerner that's true although not that far north
  22. £80 if you want insulting and I'll even do you a favour and collect it
  23. Well that makes my picture look pretty crap Excellent work there
  24. Who says trees don't have feelings:biggrin:
