  1. All 262s were xp, they had the 254 crankcase with a longer stroke con rod, it did have the small bar pad, as standard they ran 3/8 chain unlike the 254 on .325
  2. What model engine is it? we had to stop using the rib in Subaru engine as could not find a reliable spare part source, a good engine but let down by spares back up, engines plus were the importer but lost interest real fast.
  3. I still think this is an issue with the bar, bit of engineers blue on the bar pad, carfully offer the bar up and press firmlly against the pad, remove and see where the oil channel is in relation to the bar oil hole. Early style clutch and pump, but they both look ok. Did you get the shop manual i sent sir?
  4. L&S do genuine parts as they have a live account, you need to check the pump first as there may be nothing wrong with it, screws not necessary, maybe just the gear to start with.
  5. We need a picture of the clutch to see which one you have. then L&S or Red Band.
  6. Old and later tool
  7. To remove the clutch there is a special tool, however there are cut a ways in the cluch spider so as to insert a screw driver, you then hit the end of the screw driver to jar the clutch off against the compression of the saw ( l/h thread ) word of warning be careful if you use this method on the later clutch as you can snap the shoes, i speak from experience, so i always use the tool, this sits into the spider and you can then use a impact driver, i never use a piston stop.
  8. Clutch and sprocket off, bar pad protection plate off and there it is, the later pump has spacers in the fixing holes to stop the screws from compressing the plastic and allowing the pump to come loose.
  9. I guess as the original bar has done many hours and still ok, then it has to be the bar, i am not aware of any issues with the pump, don't see many 560s with 20" bars on.
  10. Pretty sure Lombardini took the franchise in the UK for Kholer.
  11. Yes with a hedge trimmer?
  12. Why????????????
  13. That is only a plastic wear plate, that in no way being missing will cause the chain to bind.

The flex hones ( ball hones ) are excellent tools, the bores come up like new, and any aluminum transfer is taken away, it also leaks a nice cross hatch in the cylinder, you need to invest Steve, only issue is you need quite a few different diameters.

    Grief!

Doncaster is still open and supplying the dealer network with all Husqvarna parts.
  16. No Stubby they came from Sarpsborg in Norway, they produced the mowers and the guide bars, i did see quite a few noses fail, the 24" and 28" were Oregon, and the longer solid bars Windsor. Thank you for updating me on the 16" Stubby, that must be a new addition, need to do better.
  17. Husqvarna have never produced a 16" bar, other than the domestic bar?
  18. Running a saw in free air will spray oil into every nook and cranny of the crankcase and chain brake, and as there is no saw dust to dry it up it will drip out under the saw when left, I would suggest cutting up a few logs then set it down and check under it after being left.
  19. It is very difficult to stop leaks permanently in fuel tanks, its usually a new tank required, its not five minutes to fit one either, anyway good luck with a repair.

Never an auto deco valve on 346 Stubby, that disaster was on the 357 and the 335/338xpt, strangely enough it worked well on the top hadle saw, you are right the oil cap is a different size, I just thought it worth saying you can fit the flip up cap on the fuel tank, I have done it on many 300 series saws.

Yes it can be done, the bolt spacing on the crankcase base did not change, nor did the stroke, expensive to do if you fit a genuine cylinder assembly.

You can fit the flip up fuel cap from the 550/560.
  24. Too low Stubby, how on earth were you using it? one of the selling points was the fact that it did not cut too low or anywhere near the tie straps, also the depth gauge on it enables you to file the the depth gauge of the chain at an angle making a smoother cutting chain, i confess i am not an operator like yourself but always found it to perform very well.
  25. A round file and a flat file, why do you need two different guides?
