  1. I have to disagree, the roller guides when used correctly are are very good, quick and a good final finish. , they have to used correctly, the instruction on the packs i must admit are not very good, but once shown you never go back.
  2. Sorry do not know much about Oregon chain, maybe this will help.
  3. Can you tell i am bored, another three weeks, might have to repair my own mower.

    357xp cylinder

Yes that's the pin, just to clarify i would use the original cylinder with a new piston, preferably a genuine Mahle piston, however if others say Meteor pistons are good, but would reiterate the con rod small end was not as wide on the earlier machine, i have 13 or 15mm in my head, if you fit the wider gap piston on the narrow con rod it can and will destroy the piston and possibly the con rod.
  6. You need a seal sleeve to cover the step in the crankshaft, also be careful with the additional oil control cable These are the only pics i can find, its not too difficult to fit with the correct tool.
  7. Sorry bit late with this.

    357xp cylinder

If you go for a piston be aware there was two different small end eyes, the later rod was wider.

    357xp cylinder

Looking at the pictures has the ring peg come out? If so you need to find it if not already done, it would be very unusual for the nicasil plating to start peeling, I have seen cylinders in worse condition than this still running perfectly fine, the ring does come down to this area, however I personally think it will be fine, it’s never worth trying to rub an odd rut in the cylinder out, these can actually help oil retention, as long as the aluminium transfer has been removed.

    Husqvarna 51

Yes it is that simple, from memory the 55 cylinder had a deco valve, so if it's genuine you will need to blank it or fit a deco valve.

    Husqvarna 385

The only change I can remember was on the early machine the drive side seal on its own was not available as a spare part, as you say the seal is now part no. 503262201, the flywheel side is bigger than the 372 it is from the 395 no. 503260205.

I know, i was quite surprised myself, had it been a 254 or 266 i could have blinded you with useless facts, anyway glad you and yours are well and not lost your sense of humor, even with all this crap going on.

    Husqvarna 385

Yes are far as I remember the only difference was the bore size
  14. External circlip pliers are the tool of choice for fitting the springs.
  15. At least we know the oil quality in the Husqvarna fuel is very high quality, from a company that produces thousands of two stroke machines, how many two stroke engines does Aspen produce?

    346xp not oiling

Just remembered, there were 2 different steel plates over the bar pad and pump, this was dependent on which pick up and delivery hose you have, the early 346 has the pump pushed into a conjoined pickup delivery pipe, the later 346 has separate hoses, if somebody has fitted the wrong plate you will have issues.

    346xp not oiling

The small bar pad has never changed from the days of the 140s through to the 550xp, so there should be no issue with the oil hole location in the x force bars, are you trying to fit the large bar pad style bar? this will throw the oil hole out.
  18. Check the wire, and its connection from the electronic unit to the coil, if its lose on the coil terminal it will lose its spark, as for the breather, it will stop once fully impregnated with 2t oil and some saw dust, common on these breathers hence the later white ones used today.
  19. Please do not drop start it, this is a very dangerous practice and people should not be advising you to do this. Yes use the purge bulb to pull cooler fuel through the carb which will help to cool it, yes pull the chok lever up and down again to set the part throttle ( do not press the trigger ) do not use the deco valve. what year is this saw? does it have the slot in the top cover? has the breather from the tank been taken away from the filter elbow?
  20. Standard R&D run test on new product 200 hours solid, 55 minuteds full load 5 minutes idle, day and night.
  21. Wondered how long it would take Aspen to grasp an oppertunity to sell their fuel.
  22. Should have also said it can be plugged into CST which will give the product and ser no., if the dealer who origanilly sold it put the customers name in it that will also be there along with hours of use etc.
  23. The hoses you have here are the return to tank hose from the purge bulb, and a breather hose going to the filter elbow, this was done for emissions, however this hose was removed due to fuel vapor entering the inlet and causing hot start issues, there was a mod to cut this hose and bung it to stop dirt entering the inlet, the white breather is then open to atmosphere, on the later machine the filter elbow does not have the connection so the hose has gone top and bottom, the third hose is the fuel inlet.
  24. Sorry I could not see the tube from the pictures, the tube into the filter is for the compensator carb.
  25. Quite correct Steve, however there is something strange in those pictures, that's not a 357 filter holder or just a bad picture, and the black plate between the metering diaphragm and cover would say its a compensator carb, but the breather hole in the pump cover would say its not?
