    stihl 500i mods

But what about the compensator carb?
  3. Have you not read this thread sir? You are not going to get it!
  4. I have seen this before, the oil hose was shortened to stop the pick up filter rattling against the gasket from the inside, this in turn causes the gasket to leak.
  5. An old trick is also to feed the pick up pipe through an o ring, this will hold the pipe further from the crankcase and increase the joint between the pipe and the pump.
  6. Do not run the saw with the clutch cover, bar and chain not fitted, the clutch will spin off on the over run, be aware!
  7. That is correct.
  8. The 254 bar pad never changed, it is just the same on the 550 and 560 today, it must be a alignment issue with the Oregon bar.
  9. The tool can be purchased but is no use to you as you need to access the support site which only a dealer with an account number can do, the carb can be updated off the machine all you need is the ser no., product no. and the part no. on the coil, and of course a friendly dealer you could post it to.
  10. 25nm for the flywheel nut, air gap 0.3mm, plug gap 0.5mm, use a flywheel holding tool not a piston stop or some such thing through the plug hole.
  11. Not older, better.
  12. See picture
  13. I think we asked before, but impulse, have you removed the induction block and checked the gasket also the hole has not been blocked, 266 was so reliable so it has to be something silly, make sure the hole in the cylinder does go into the crankase.
  14. Looks like a crankcase bolt, or the cylinder bolt that requires the spacer from a auto tune saw.
  15. I’ve see too many knackered power cutters and people changing carbs, filters, plugs and everything in between, before they have assessed the condition of the engine, as you know concrete dust mixed with fuel is lapping paste, then throw into the engine and what do you get, so he needs the confirm the internal are all good before we waste our time suggesting other things, back to work Monday so I am a bit pissy this morning.
  16. Compression test!
  17. Speak as i find sir, we have done much testing and comparisons on competitors products, and yes i am a little bias, but the 410 was not as good as the earlier 400, try getting the air filter cover off the Stihl, the screws thread into brass inserts which turn in the cover so you very often have to cut the cover off, and whoever decided to fit the starter on the drive side with a plastic pawl, i could go on but probably going to get bombarded by TS410 users telling me how marvelous they are.
  18. Sorry i am for the T540, as for the Stihl being easier to work on, i had the miss fortune to fit a new handle housing, just a pile of rods and levers fell out in a heap, give me the T540 any day ,In addition to the barrel spring and strengthened base plate there is also now a limiter strap, and yes there is a different ignition unit, crankcase strengthened at hand guard pivot.
  19. The 410 was not Stihls finest hour, however with any power cutter air filter maintenance is everything, if this machine has has concrete dust through it, it will have cylinder and piston wear, possibly main bearing wear as well which in turn allows the crank seals to leak, so if you are sure the replacment carb is good, then my best suggestion is engine internal wear, quick plug for the Husqvarna K700, far superior machine.

    Chainsaw case

Husqvarna do one part no. 531300872 if you google it you should see pictures and who are selling it, I personally think the canvas chainsaw bag is better, less bulky etc. I can post some pictures if you wish.
  21. Possibly cracked or broken fuel hose, incorrect orientation of fuel hoses, carb needs to be adjusted to richen the mixture.
  22. Who the bloody hell started talking about sheep? i worked on a farm weekends learnt to drive on a Fordson super major, it was too much like hard work so started repairing mowers, we have sheep over the forest of dean, stupid things, is there no subject we will tackle on this site?
  23. Lawnmowers direct were Bartrum mowers, they now are part of the E Doe group.
  24. Do we know who supplied this machine? if it’s a dealer I know I can try to follow its progress, I was in no way being rude to this person, I just find it strange that someone would purchase a product, decide there was something wrong with it, go to the trouble of ordering a special tool required to alter the carb settings, go on line to ask what may be wrong with it, and as a last resort speak to the seller, I deal with these queries every day from customers with issues with there machines, and we are normally the first port of call, I hope this machine can be rectified easily and to the customers satisfaction as a these things reflect badly on the Husqvarna brand.
  25. There isn't a filter on the pick up pipe, there is a filter however on the bottom of the oil tank, you can just about get to it between the tank and the crankcase, it is retained by a Philips screw, turn the saw upside down to do it.
