  1. I'm 5ft10 and weight 12.5stone at mo but normally average 12 st I climb most days. Oh and I'm 33 with a 34 waist needs a belt but 32 is being hopeful:laugh1:
  2. Exclent:lol:
  3. Weaver cubes come with a sitting tenant tangle fairy installed as standard:laugh1: I reckon I've got a whole family in mine, if your short I could send you my fairyies:001_tongue:
  4. I'm with you on this one:laugh1: I've no idea what happens to them, I reckon the homeless tree fairyies make nests in mine! I pack it away carefully and next day it's in a right state
  5. Good trucks I drove one as a yoooof delivering pianos. Watching this with interest, been wondering about up grading our 3.5t canter which is down rated from 5.5t and does mid 20s/gal towing a first st6 and regularly not wanting to see a weigh bridge to a heavier truck that need not be so shy of being weighed:laugh1:
  6. I've just started wearing plugs instead of muffs on my climbing lid. Using 3m ones on a cord that are tied to my lid. They are 33snr I think. Brilliant for saws but not so good with the chipper, quite but it seems to be the tone of the chipper that there not good with rather than the loudness? From a climbing point of view there great with googles and no stuff sticking out of the lid to get caught on stuff:thumbup: I'm as bad as the next man when it comes to hearing and tinnitus so it's just a case of stopping it getting worse rather than preventing it
  7. I was thinking the rope runner because it can be used double rope as well so it's one bit of kit covering all options with out carrying a load of gear in the tree
  8. Are they ce marked now so we can loler them? Very interested in trying one out but not going to spend the money if I can't keep the paper work right
  9. I'm looking to come over to srt. At the moment I'm climbing dirt on the lock jack. Thinking about the rope runner but I can't find them for sale in this country? Does that mean they aren't ce marked yet or I just that I've missed them for sale? If threre not ce marked then it's a no go for loler
  10. After I replied to this Wednesday our local man from redwood was on the phone first thing yesterday morning, we have been promised that our machine will be taken in and sorted. I would like to think you have had a similar response, good luck with it bud.
  11. No he is not alone! Our paint work is crap, it has been in to be repainted, by the looks of it with a bog brush in a dusty yard over the top of the flakey paint and rust! After I said it wasn't good enough I was told it wasn't viable for redwood to repaint the whole machine but they would do us a very good deal when we changed it, we looked at the Arb show and another dealer offered us over 2k more than redwood to trade it in! Good deal my arse Ours cuts out at times for no reason, never did get a call back! I changed fuel filter but no change, normally when working hard, reminds me to ring again and waste a little more time Our top feed roller also slipped over at about a 100 hours, when I spoke to the workshop I was asked if I had a tool box? When I said yes I was told "sort it then" and was promptly hung up on. Our drawbar also came lose and I had to tighten it, not a big deal and to be expected if I had brought a 5k pile of c@@p from China but on a machine that is claimed to be well built??? Ours is still under 200 hours:thumbdown: could understand it if it was 2000 plus hours and second hand As soon as It is viable to it's going and I WILL NOT be buying another one or dealing with red wood if I can help it.
  12. Make sure you send in all the records in of first use it makes the job easier, an easier job is a happy examiner which is a good thing, I've sent kits back untested for no paperwork and no I'd markings!
  13. Having had to claim on my pl insurance once from tree work, also as a loler examiner I wouldn't consider having any one on site with out having there gear tested, if my gear wasn't tested when I needed my insurance I would be out of business now. Also as a examiner I may go outside of the guidelines given by the manufacturer of equipment with regards to service life in some instances, but you need to remember that the day someone gets hurt I have to be able to stand in court and justify my decision. So you need to give the examiner the space to pass or fail a piece of kit as they see fit as it could be there house/business/reputation on the line. Just stop and think you wouldn't go to work with out your pl and employers libality insurance so why make it invalid by not getting you gear tested, it's not expensive in the grand scheme of things!
  14. cant beat them, cumbersome horrible things but I would never be with out it, got me out of a muddle on a number of occasions.
  15. ive got a older one with the carb on, now 5 years old and still earning me money ;-) We have had no probs with other electronic stihl saws and will replace the 441 with another electronic one when this one goes, unless I send this one to spud ;-)

    Birch?

Cheers lads I thought that was the case but didn't want to waste a lot of time

    Birch?

Evening Ive got a decent size birch to fell this week, got to have about 30' of straight trunk and about 20" across at the but end. So is Silver Birch worth milling or will it just warp/twist as it drys and if I manage to get it dry is it any good for owt or will I just spend a lot of time making plank shape fire wood? Cheers all. Sorry if its a daft question but ive got the bug to plank any thing that's worth doing
  18. Where are you based? I started like you and now I like to give people a chance, A couple of teams gave me a chance and a start in the industry a few years ago and ive not looked back or forgotten those who gave me that chance. In my mind any good employer wont expect you to work for nowt, you might not earn top money till you have shown your worth but to work for nowt is just taking the pi** out of some one and makes for a demoralised bloke that never shows his best Good Luck find your chance to get a start:001_smile:
  19. Apple table, Its about 18" high 2' long and 8" wide The legs are made from scrap chain and a bit of angle from under the bench
  20. Ive still got a spare one, had little use. I will check the date of first use for you and would send it with a new loler test. Send me a message on here if your interested. Its about a year old I think, im about a 34 waist and have it almost as small as it will go. The only reason I would let it go is I now have a tree motion and reckon its as good. before I used a tree motion I wouldn't climb in any thing else. Any ways it here, if its of interest give me a shout and we will work out a deal Will
  21. That's the type of customer we could all do with out, He is more than welcome to go to some local village idiot, unfortunately I do believe the job of village idiot may already be taken by the man him self
  22. Thank you for pointing out my crap spelling It is a bad habit of mine to write things as they sound when scribbling my notes down to re write later, it would appear its not only when i'm scribbling my own notes Oh well if you cant laugh and be laughed at whats life got? Back to the insurance side
  23. We are looking for cover for doing lola testing. Any one got any idea who to try for professional indemnity insurance to cover it? It will only be a side line to the main arb work so little income from it to start. We are currently insured with arbor risk for our PL,EL and tools etc but they don't do PE insurance for lola testing so recommendations welcome Thanks all:thumbup1:
  24. Ours is: crosscountryservices.co.uk Seems to bring work in but then we are in quite a ocalised area that makes searching easier
  25. a bloke said to me recently "work for cash and spend it all on classic cars you wont go far wrong" But personally I couldn't answer your question, there is never any spare money after the I could do with that items
