  1. exclent. thank you very much, im looking at ringing Rob D for a alaskin next week, been talking about it for a long time, its time to have a go me thinks. Ive been looking for a use for laylandi for a while Thank you for that link se7enthdevil looks handy
  2. Cool, thanks. I have seen it used and knew it was a durable timber but i wasnt sure if i could work it green (Ive not got anywhere sutable to season timber but could find a home for a few benches to sit for a year for the sticky stuff to escape
  3. Can laylandi be worked into benches etc green or would it twist and split into nowt but logs? I know its going to be no use untill its seasoned cause of the sap escaping and leaving sticky stuff all over you if you get within 5ft of it:laugh1: but in theroy if the bench was made green would i survive untill it dryed enough to use? Thanks in taking time to read my rambles
  4. We have had no probs with northern arb, good service every time, spent £1500 with them today in confidence. The only prob is if you ring up they dont talk proper like us lot down ere Every one gets it wrong at times, i waited 2 months for a rope from the jones boys then to be told they didnt have any, northern arb delivered one in 36 hours Also as often as not they are cheaper than most as well, bonus
  5. Very good, i once melted the riddle grill out of a multi fuel wood burner with blackthorn
  6. dWouls the ash / birch / sycamore and maple copice in blocks? that way you get good fire wood every year and the wildlife will move from the block you just cut to the next one, if you can work out 10 blocks and work one a year you will have a decent size timber for fire wood by the time you go round for a second time. Pesonally i wold lose most of the laylandi buts that a personal opionion. they could be milled up on site to build you a tea hut etc.

    waders

We were woking on a windblown tree over a stream the other day. Had to abandon the saw boots and wear waders During the day we had a conversation wondering if anyone makes waders with saw wellies built into them? I always do this sort of work my self as i worry about sending the lads in with no protection (from a libality side )
  10. Wet n Windy on the isle of wight, even if it does snow i reckon its to wet for it to settle
  11. Compton Farm Caravan and Camping Site / IOW - Isle of White I think these are open all year round, not sure what the cost is like tho. they are out in the west of island, nice n quite with cracking views out our end
  12. I wouldnt worry, it will break again before the lack of oil does any damage Sorry i cant help:blushing:
  13. No it lives in its pot all year round reckon this will be its last year, will be planted out after new year and get a new one in a pot next year:biggrin:
  14. Real, cant work with trees and furnish the house with plastic Ours is in a bucket, same one for 3 years, water it every other day and its fine with the wood burner:thumbup:
  15. No, wouldnt get much chip it
  16. £1250?
  17. Ive send my 540 back as "unfit for purpose" Had a call today from the dealer saying husky have sent him a new saw for me do i want it or would i rather have something else. I went for some thing else, never will i own any husky stuff again Ever!
  18. We use a 441 on our team daily, spends most of its time with a 16" bar in which makes it light enough to swing all day with ease but its also got a 25" bar for bigger stuff. This was my main saw for every thing apart from a climbing saw for 4 years, now got a bigger one as well so it doesnt have to do the big stuff any more. Ive also used to 441 for hand cutting in the woods, can turn about 12 ton of beach (stacked as well) in a sensable day with a gallon of fuel to give you some idea how they cost to run I would recomend it, for the size it relativly light and v well balanced. One of our subbies has a 361 which is also a good saw and almost keeps up with the 441 but im not sure how big a bar it will run for your milling
  19. Filled out, would be happy to help. never used oregon stuff due to lack of a good local oregon dealer.
  20. Do you find it help with the CTS? I suffer from a pens and needles sensation from a old neck injury (nerve damage), thinking it could help
  21. If I have to leave the floor it a £1000 for a monkey puzzle Needless to say i dont get any unless its a 3 cut prune
  22. Weve not got time for that, you are not made of sugar so you wont disolve:001_rolleyes:
  23. A interesting mix, will have to speak to our dealer and see what the cost is, budget is not bottomless:blushing:
  24. That was what i wondered, never wished i had them up till now, si i think i will go back into my cave and not try this new fangled stuff
  25. Go with a forst, if it brakes they will help you quickly and with a smile, customer service is a big part of any machine and they are GOOD
