  1. Inspected combine that failed like this in mid harvest They drove from wales to suffolk ( and back) to get parts that day Worked till early hours to get combine back to work in morning First thing they did in the morning was to drive over a toolbox they'd missed and did it again Quite common to do this with sileage choppers too......picking up the crap/broken blades that caused the problem Be a bit careful when you go back to finish the job..... You have to laugh.....
  2. Looked at this a bit - Affordable Stuff on ebay is apparently chinese kit designed for animal feed and will knacker after a few months Gave up at that point

  4. There was fiirm in Oldham I think still doing this in late80's, certainly N Manchestet Had to inspect vehicle there Fascinating
  5. They used to chop gorse for winter stock feed Better than nothing I'd guess....... We've cut down gorse years ago and top it each year...nothing like silver underneath it....and the bugger isn't dead yet..... When we bought place we had some butterflies ( either pearl washed or pearl bordered fritillaries) at that point the one we had wasn't considered rare so no money forthcoming, but apparently they live on the violets under bracken, don't know if they are still here but the bracken is....
  6. Saw guy like this in Tal Y Llyn opposite a friends house He had ladder on top of old dry stone wall Ran up a gable at an angle of about ten degrees out of vertical And finally he was STANDING on top rung of ladder painting .....the house was about four stories so a long way up I have never been so scared for someone in my life ........ But he survived..........
  7. Sounds like perfect life to me...
  8. I'd like a politician to explain how a political party helps democracy? We'd have non of these clowns in power if we had 600 indpendent mp's electing the best of the 600 as cabinet ministers Nor would we have killed 100,000 iraqis for no purpose, and Cyril Smith etc would have gone to jail Party politics stinks
  9. Fiat multipla Getting cheap now, and ugly so not popular Back seats pop out to make a van, but leave you three seats across front Flat floor with good ground clearance
  10. I've never been in the business ....so like a nutter I feel free to comment If you can get £1000 a day why not? There are allways people who think if they pay more they get better, so encourage them But a day rate should cover costs + a profit But the wood is surely your cream, not the bread and butter If you take it away you can cut it when business is quiet to keep your team productive No down time There is a worry that the ultra cheap guys are keeping costs down by cutting corners No insurance, no qualifications, ( hooky tackle?) so what happens when he drops a Big ash on your house? He'll be gone.....
  11. Bottom line Why would anyone want anything other than a working English Springer Spaniel ? Perfect dog in my book.......

  14. Rac man in village has 4x4 transit which he rates very highly
  15. It was great job, incredibly interesting, but couldn't make decent living ...... Read book about criminal liverpool in 1980's and what was going on..... Saw a lot of it..... Manchester Scrapman using £1500 of heroin a week ( in 1980's!) apparently his house was a 24:7 party Ferraris with their sills stuffed with ecstasy etc etc
  16. Ifor williams had problems with trailers being knicked and fitted with "new" chassis plates Got round it by welding chassis number on trailer before it was galvanised Criminals very clever .... Eg They enter zero in chassis plate as O ( for orange) results in " no match" In days when car stereos being knicked they found if you stored them in a freezer it reset the stereo password .....we had freezer full of stereos recovered in Liverpool .....going rate for a dodgy stereo was one fix of drugs .....
  17. Don't they use walnut rootfor gunstocks? Is there a market there?
  18. Looked at Birch Sap few years ago Very watery so need lots of heat to maky syrup But with sap costing £20+ per litre perhaps worth another look? Dukan Diet Organic Birch Sap, Detox treatment
  19. I wonder if switch around from putting bracken first in wales and gorse first in surrey is due to level of rainfall? It's certainly wet here And pretty dry in Surrey ( comparitively)
  20. There is welsh saying Gold under bracken Silver under gorse And poverty under heather
  21. In previous life my missis was electrical engineer , they put electrical substation in near you ( Kirkby) , they specified one that was bombproof, because of Kirkby reputation Phone call 3 am from police " can you come and make this substation safe" They had nicked whole substation, just big live electrical cable sticking out of ground, they reckoned they must have used truck to drag it out whilst concrete still soft.....
  22. Ditto Santander My son worked in Jakarta for 18 months EVERY. Time he bought something I got automated phone call querying payment, I'd authorise it over system and then eMail him .....pain in the arse He bought iPhone in Jakarta and DAY AFTER.
