  1. Got couple of Jotuls, an old no 1 i shoved on ktchen to get us through winter, and a posh newer one in living room, The number 1 is old and ugly but gets hot, but I need boiler stove for central heating Cutting logs like mad as I reckon I'll need 25+ cube ......... Just fed up with house being cold .......never had central heating in my life so all new to me....had hoped this gov't grant thingy would help but seems to be aimed at burning pellets - told this morning machine to make pellets £15k so thats off the plan
  2. Looking to run central heating off the woodburner Plumber says we need about 25 kw Recommendations please
  3. Italian stove top machine ( under £15 ) Starbucks house blend from Tesco Hot milk, one sugar lump Only allowed one a day
  4. Talking to my missis about this She apparently used to dress her jack russel up in dolls clothing ( she never liked dolls) and then go down to the brook behind her house where the dog would go ratting Looking at her now I just cannot imagine it
  5. There has to be a serious chinese saw somewhere ......
  6. I get the idea, interesting they are always splitting in a tyre, I'd guess the bits fly if they are not contained, as your converting the vertical energy into sideways splitting energy ...... Need to see it in action on knotty bit of wood...... Hats off to his thinking though .......
  7. £10 / £15 sounds better than two hours driving to me ...... Is that per saw or per package?
  8. Opportunity for one of serious repairers on here You send photos of saw and description of problem so you have idea of problem He Does deal with national carrier to collect / deliver chainsaws to his workshop ( i know serious discounts are available on carriage charges ) He repairs / services and delivers back asap No need to drive into town to get saw sorted ...... Simples
  9. Can you get a left handed one?

  16. Years ago I looked at setting up a warranty cover for a chinese company ( not chainsaws) UPS and similar offer a global collection / delivery service at quite reasonable cost - we were looking at sending failed components straight back to designers so they coud improve quality of product So no reason why you cannot have a purchase direct from the manufacturer with local guys doing the maintenance and warranty repairs Local guy will then depend on his quality and speed of repair, so he will work like hell at providing good service ( no putting you at back of the queue) Chinese manufacturers have brand new top of the range equipment, So they will be manufacturing good quality kit ..... I think writing on wall for Stihl and Husky ........longterm

  18. I came out of university with engineering degree in 1983 I had been top of my course at a good university for three years But Thatcher government was smashing up british industry with a big hammer Every night on news 500 engineering jobs gone here, 400 there No chance of a job in engineering Wonder what happened to all The malaysians I was at uni with ? 21. There are guys who make a living bringing van loads of food from france for UK restaurants Opportunity here for a guy with a van and a passport .... Free trade, don't you love it!
  22. Amazing that a company in 2014 is trying to avoid the internet....... Morrisons Supermarket tried this with old man morrision who said " we don't do the internet" its cost them millions stihl problem is that the internet shortens supply chains That means some dealers/suppliers get cut out But if they don't use the internet they lose sales just look at number of guys on this thread who've gone husky At some point stihl ( head office) will notice stihl ( uk) have screwed up and they willhave a FRANK AND OPEN DISCUSSION andolicy will change Until then the future is husky That reduces prices and keeps them competitive Clever policy for stihl would be to go heavily online at very competive prices, suck retail profit into head office, and appoint Repair Agencies who just do warranty work for them......
  23. Wondering what you got up to as a kid? When we were about twelve..... On fine sunny day We build dam across a stream, used bricks we found in bottom of stream and build beautiful curved damm about five feet across and four feet high, faced it with mud so it was 100% waterproof, based it on Aswan dam in egypt that had just been built Though I say it myself it was beautiful When we left the water had risen about a foot....went to school as usual next day During the day there was a shower, but didn't think anything until..... Came home from school and turned on tv, news from the north featured a flood ....fire engines pumping water, guys in dingys ferrying people across, A road closed....buses with water over their wheels .....the whole bloody works Kept my trap shut till now...... It was a beautiful dam! Wondering what you guys did
