  4. If you want to do there will be a way ...... Right time of year for gardens......customers may have their own tools, Make list of priorities ...... 1) lawn mower 2) set of garden hand tools 3) driving licence 4) etc Make your own list and in your own order ...... Then work towards it ...... Never throw an invoice away for anything you buy --- they are the same as money Good luck
  5. Beautiful And the last of the snow has gone from the Berwyns ( 2 months earlier than ladt year)
  6. I had a mate in 80's who got loads of shooting between m6 and manchester by knocking on doors and being polite He got one large estate who were concerned about claims from tenants re vermin who justgave him permission to shoot over literally 1000's acres He shot pretty much full time Not pretty area but loads of geese, duck, pigeon, partridge etc I'm amazed no one ever knocks on my door to just ask .....
  7. I'd break the job down into sections in the logical order for doing them 1) look at hedges, work out strategy for getting them tidy, estimate how long they will take, add a bit on then cost at daily rate Once hedges out of way you can deal with the trees 2) trees, work out if you can handle them , if you can how long will it take, add in cost of hiring chipper and trailer to remove chips , cost of dumping chip .....is it better to subcontract? Once trees and hedges sorted you can look at pruning 3) pruning, how long at daily rate Then borders 4) how long to sort out --- again at daily rate Final tidy up 5) does she need borders mulching, etc tc why not sell a bit extra service ? 6) then finally ongoing maintenance ....suggest you come back Every month to cut grass and keep on top of the job This way your straight with customer and hopefully build repeat ongoing custom ....... And if she can't afford to do it all, she'll know that before you start Your in strong position to lead her bythe hand here.......
  8. Different jobs Logo is graphic design Web page is techy job If your not looking to something clever probably best to use a standard web page such as 1and1 Graphic designers are a different prospect, they tend to be a bit trendy, but some will fob you off with something similar to what they have one before...... Get an idea of how you want site to look before you go to them...then use them to refine it ......expect to go back several times till you get the look you want
  9. I thought dogwood charcoal was best for blackpowdet

  13. It's getting the to dubai that'll be the hard bit
  14. I used to deal with a guy who imported brand new Lada Nivas from Russia Under £10 k on the road SPrayed with thick rubber on inside .....to keep noise down and make " hose out" to clean **** on a long journey but very practical off road ---- was very tempted Also dealt with guy who had trained drivers for oil companies todrive off road anywhere in the world He reckoned he'd used pretty much every 4x4 made Rated niva as very capable but rough Also rated little suzuki with funny name, said it was actually designed by land rover ....said he'd seen one start on 25% inclined ice and just driven up it Said some nissans were good but lacked ground clearance There is some russian super tough niva ....will go anywhere but doesn't even have a heater, you have to put one of those petrol heaters in the back to survive in russia Can't remember what else he said Also had guy who imported hiluxes from thailand, found on delivery theydidn't have heaters (who needs heater in thailand)
  15. I believe insurers won't pay now if they nick your car with keys in while you pay for petrol Also new keys record when you opened car doors, so don't think about telling lies as the keys you hand in can be "read" to see what you were actually doing Mercedes in car computers reord all sorts of data such as which doors and how often have been opened , soinsurers can see if car has been used as a taxi....
  16. My mum (100 miles away) needed her house sorting out after she broke her hip Used rated people to get quotes in Was happy with service and contractors looked ok But then she changed her mind and deceided climbng into bath using boxes was better idea So bottom line was waste of time for everyone
  17. I think its equity and revenue again Bugger all income (revenue) each year , but your capital (equity) is growing So as long as you can live onyour income whats the problem? Staying away from debt and posh garages seems the way forward to me ...... I'd rather have my woods than a range rover.....
  18. Read book about rural vietnam Rats are ( were?) a staple food, caught them in the rice paddies I think, not sure if same species.... Don't fancy it much ...... Leave that for Hugh Fernly-Whatsits to try
  19. Wonder what changes to pension fund rules will do? I think People will cash in their pensions and buy woodland ( no death duties ) Spoke to estate agent today, they see buy to let booming Can't see prices land/woodland falling anyway .... Guy in post office says he's ploughing all his money into pension for next few years then drawing it out for early retirement, my missis thinks gov't will encourage this then slam door on him, leaving him back in annuity market ....and screwed
  20. Just imagine what it would be like if you HAD to work with them every single day You would go mad Thats why we give them the dole, so normal people can just get on with it.......
  21. Anything that will stop that jack flying forwards ....... I was asked by thefamily to recover a wallet from car where driver had taken her head off in the accident.... It was properly horrid
  22. Lawn sausages ---- took me 5 minutes to work that out
  23. I used to be insurance assessor 25% of fatal accidents involve stuff flying around in the accident So dog guard is excellent idea The front passenger seat is known as the death seat as about 80% of fatalities are to the passenger. .....even drunk drivers manage to flinch away from the accident ...... ( strange about Diana wasn't it?) Don't have stuff loose on the rear parcel shelf ...classic is umbrella acting like a spear Old ford fiestas used to have sheet of hardboard over the spare wheel ....in rear end impact used to come through back seat and break rear passengers back ....this was long time ago , be careful what you put in the boot , and how you put it in Make everyone wear a seat belt .....you make very distinctive marks on windscreen when you give yourself a lobotomy ...... Drive slowly .......we'll slow enough for the conditions Remember all the grip comes through that little bit of rubber at bottom of tyre....buy decent tyres.... Bet your glad you asked !
  24. Could you mix it with chicken/pig sh*t to stop excess nitrogen ?
  25. Rented house in limousin last year with firewood included Firewood was beautiful split rings...... There were no round or half round bits of firewood .....so just split trunks It was bone dry and burned well ( can't remember type of wood) French woodburner was crap...... Burned very inefficiently so I was embarassed about how much wood we burned in a week Driving round kept seeing what I thought were upended yard scrapers at the backs of field and inodd corners -- you know the sort with corrugated vertical section and rubber scraper at bottom When we got lose enough they were vertical log splitters with corrugated curved roofs that were integral with the splitter Absolutely loved the countryside, but the townsand villages were very very sad....in town we stayed ear AT LEAST. Two thirds of shops were empty We visited another potentially beautiful village and roof on shops were collapsing in ....very very sad I'd guess there is no business being done hence firwood at €40 a stear
