  1. Talking to guy who had garden centre Vat inspector turned up and asked him how much turf he'd sold Pressed few buttons and gave hie figure Vat inspector said " thats vatable"and gave him bill for £3500 So I have paper system All invoices shoved in an envelope If he wants to analyse it he can but it will take him hours

  3. I believe They did some local farmers for going to quarry for stone to repair farm tracks using tractor and trailer Quarry is about 7 miles away I did some inspections for ministry re use of red diesel ....they were so aggressive If caught using red diesel in hidden tank the fine then was 1)work out your consumption of fuel since you set business up 2) work out loss of revenue between red and white diesel 3) multiply by FIVE to calculate fine They usually destroyed any business they caught Most people caught by disgruntled employees tipping them off I actually saw inspectors dance in a farmyard when they caught haulage contractor .........
  4. Nice to see he sells lots of woodburning stoves Gives you great confidence that he knows his product inside out
  5. You'd only forget something once .......
  6. Read book byfarmer who went through hungry thirties He replaced all his machinery asap with new despite others saying not worthwhile Hi argument was " if we hit hard times again I can hold out without buying new machinery for 10 years" Allways thought that was very sound argument

  8. Friend found car parked up next tohis shoot Realised they were poachers Unscrewed petrol cap shoved newspaper in and lit it They didn't come back
  9. My missis used to test lifts You stand on top of them ( no safety rail) take them up to highest point then let them drop Auto brake should then kick in I told her not to tell me when she was doing this She tells me vertical ladders are knackering and she wouldn't go up that tower...... She is lot braver than me ( you test them at highest point because emergency brakes puts rough spot on rails making ride a bit rough at that point)
  10. There is company in StAlbans They do software for tablets So you can take photo on tablet, It automatically records date, time, location etc The example they described to me was for staffchecking Lifebelts on scottish lochs They have record that they ave been checked, by who and when plus a photo Obviously lots of other uses for this software ...... They normally deal with organisationsrather than individuals though
  11. Contemplating roasting a rib of beef in front of fire Aparently sticking it in oven is baking not roasting ...... So need wire from ceiling, fasten to rib and dripping tray below Just need to get motivated There is bloke offering a course on how to do this for £300 But think I'd rather spend £300 elsewhere .......not one for courses really

  15. This is going on Ferrari Vipar soossibly a bit small for some of this stuff? I've got plenty of room for storage, so hopefully no need to stack, don't like heavy stuff balanced near me cos I have tendancy to be clumsy ! Advise re 1.2m is good thanks
  16. New to this website Getting bit more serious about logging for the home fires ( 3 woodburners ) Lookinging at using ibc crates for cut and split logs, protected with pallet film on top and top 12 inches and leaving them where cut to dry. Then moving them with pallet forks on three point linkage ( tractor has lift capacity of 700kg) 1) is this sensible? 2) whose forks would you recommend some ebay stuff looks a bit flimsy Thanks
