  1. 25% of fatal vehicle accidents are caused by stuff flying about Classic is that nice first aid tin box on parcel shelf --- flying forward and smashing your head off Local guy collecting coins from telephone boxes went same way Little girl killed in ireland by coke can too....... Nothing heavy / hard on parcel shelves please......... If you have estate/van dog guard good idea
  2. My misses saw milk float yesterday MILK & UDDER STUFF
  3. £1500 for ecu on my car I don't call that cheap as chips
  4. So what happens in Brazil where there's loads of bio-fuel ? i think most fords are dual fuel out there ....... Do Husqvarna's just fall to bits? I found device few years ago that you poured anything with sugar/alcohol into and it turned it into fuel ( they recommended bar slops, ends of wine bottles, and anything with sugar) Looked like small petrol pump was about $10,000 i think Residue went down drain, everything automatic....free fuel for $10k was very attractive idea Thats why I considered importing ford from brazil.......
  5. You have to wonder what the "admin charges" were on that lot..... 25%?
  6. It was in there for four ! Months waiting for him to sort problem Said it was corroded carb and he had four more waiting for parts He quoted £50 for carb kit......(£20 on ebay) Then new mechanic started and said it had picked up on bore ..... Made me offer against new husky which i bought as back up saw Having already bought a new one elsewhere So nowI have two nearly new husqvarna saws, and I'm wondering if chinese would have been better I have old saw stripped, but not looked at bore yet ..... Have to admit I've been sloppy over fuel, can stay in can for few months,
  7. There was thread on here few weeks ago about chinese ebay chainsaws General Advice was if you buy chinese you'll not be able to get if repaired if it breaks Strikes me husqvarna are putting themselves in same place as chinese saws But they cost three times the price This is obviously a quality problem with husqvarna, if their seals fail when someone uses petrol fom his local garage then the problem is husqvarnas not the customers..... i recently put one into my local husqvarna agent with similar problem, he told me he had a stack of chainsaws with the same problem...... If your a husqvarna agent tell us "have you got lots with this problem too?"
  8. Now I'm more confused You quote cost of running royals at £20 odd million One of Your websites says "So that’s how much the monarchy could be worth - but how much does it cost? There's the £461 million Civil List, funds allocated to royals to perform their duties, a £387 million bill for building maintenance and £3.2 billion in security expenses.*The*monarchy doesn’t come cheap. Haigh and his colleagues value the total long-term outflows associated with having a royal family at £7.6 billion." £ 7.6 BILLION ? i'm still working my way through sites .....but whole thing is bizarre Are they costing us £7.6 BILLION ? thats another figure I don't believe..but its looking like £20 million is tip of the iceberg And for this we get DUKE OF EDINBURGH ?
  9. Time for local Trading standards office?
  10. Can someone direct me to a website that analyses royal family contribution to the economy ? Until I see analysis I will not be believe it........
  11. There have been other threads on here with husky dealers complaining about amount they get from husky for warranty repairs May simply be seeking more £ But long term bad for husky if their agents are kicking out valid claims, will destroy value of the brand You might buy chinese next time ifthey screw you about
  12. Can someone point me to a website where it shows this income of £500,000,000.00 attributed to royals for a cost of £21,000,000.00 The crown estate was bought by gov't when royal needed to pay off his debts .... It's nominally in ownership of queen, but in effect she can do nothing with it ...That was more about royals losing face in 1800's by going bust They don't give us the income form it..... We own it The Crown Estate || FAQs
  13. Youv'e missed the point london ONLY thinks about London - they didn't even think UK had land boundary with EEC Most people from London have never been North of Watford Gap .....when they go on holiday they go to Spain ..... But they think they have a RIGHT TO BE HEAD OFFICE, for the whole of the UK Its just not acceptable
  14. Someone pointed out to me that when gov't set fuel duty it forgot we actually do have a land boundary with eec This is between N Ireland and Eire Result is everyone in N Ireland drives to Eire to full up their tanks because it was much cheaper...( not sure what situation is now as this was few years ago) But I think important thing is that London didn't even consider N Ireland when it thought about fuel duty, because to them ONLY LONDON MATTERED...... I think most of UK problems stem from this London centered thinking ...... In 1980's 85% of redevelopment money was spent in London We all knew £1billion on Millenium dome was bad idea but they spent it......cos London wanted it London has currently huge property bubble, when it bursts we'll all feel the waves ..........
  15. There was chip shop next to ifor williams factory Always busy at lunchtime
  16. Thinking time v imp Google staff spend 1 day each work just thinking Bill Gates spends a month each year just thinking Important not to be busy fools
  17. I know nothing about firewood business, but I came on this website to learn... I do have three hungry woodburners and enough woodland to supply them, and possibly supply a few more people with fuel......and I do like a good business plan... I cut my own logs and have done so for 20 years with old landrover, trailer, chainsaw and splitting axe Have slowly geared up to alpine tractor, hydraulic splitter... And this year moving to ibc containers I dont see this as a business for me ( too old , fat and lazy ) and I spend too long sitting in woods drinking coffee and enjoying the woods, but I am interested in it as a business ...just for my own amusement as I do like a business plan I think problem is there are a lot of areas where time can be wasted... I've been rained off most of jan and feb ......I'd guess some of you have too, and before I took this more seriously I hadn't realised how much time was wasted because of the weather But what I'm asking is Has any small producer actually measured how they really spend their time ? Worked out hour by hour what they are doing?
  18. Agree quality is way to go.......You never go back to a crap chip shop..... There was bad one near us, went in once in 10 years, changed hands and bit more regular now...... But frozen chips very good n handy too........less trouble than driving to chip shop.....
  19. They are in order too ( can't spell alfabetical )
  20. I was thinking the old integrated farm where they planted up the odd corner for trees because the boss liked a bit of roughshooting and they would also come in for fence posts is disappearing When we moved here 25 years ago an economical farm was about 100 acres, then it moved to 400 acres, don't know what it is now 600 acres? upland farming is in a mess across the whole of the EEC so governments will at some point have to do "something about it" experience suggests they will go the agri business way..... The small family farm is morphing into an agri business where what matters is £££££ The forestry Is pure agri business, if they can get a few quid for letting landrovers chew up the tracks they take it, if farms go the same way then if farms an get ££££ for chopping down roadside trees they will take it....
  21. The verb “cleave” is the only English word with two synonyms which are antonyms of each other: adhere and separate
  22. What bothers me is that farmers/landowners will strip out every tree for biomass cash..... Not just from woods but also from verges, field edges , odd corners etc Every tree will have a price on its head....
  23. " And, you know, there is no such thing as society" M Thatcher Oct 31 1987 "people must look to themselves first. It's our duty to look after ourselves" same interview ..........
  24. Saw one in village in limousin last year Looked very sad/hard way to make a living Probably do better if she sold firewood from a trailer in a laybye .......and bugger all cost involved I've often wondered about getting laybye coffee shop to sell firewood ..... Would seem to fit their business model.....especially if firewood producer delivered logs to their shop..... And very convenient for customers who want couple of nets.....make sure nets well labelled and link to online shop / telephone so they can buy in bulk once they have tried your wood..
