  1. Nice on three point linkage with a few simple guards and feed shutes
  2. In victorian times There was huge elm at Powis castle Problem was it was too big to move so no-one would buy it Eventually went for a song Guy who bought split it with black powder , and made money I believe problem is that the back powder wedges can fly like cannonballs Not a safe technique Still available to buy in usa I believe,
  3. You buy petrol/diesel/paraffin by litre You buy electricity by kw/hour You buy logs by ? Needs nationally agreed standard ....... i'd say you need agreed mousture content and volume I think trick is to worth WITH a trading standards office and get this bottomed 100% THEN roll it out across the country So you can buy logs with confidence and if there is a problem there is standard to work to .....and where your logs can be checked Eliminates back street log sellers .........
  4. I went over to see a company in manchester when I was doing some SEO ( search engine optimisation) stuff about 18 months ago It was a genuine firm, but what they were offering was this:- If you pay for advertising on google you can restrict it to a tight local area So if say your from shrewsbury they can get you to the top in shrewsbury economically They were working with local builders doing conservatories, block drives etc where the profit from one job is in the thousands, and who work locally So they would get the guy to the top locally and generate say ten leads a week for £200 He'd go round and from those ten leads convert perhaps one But as that made him say £3000 he was making good money each week So their advertising cost was worth it to him I thought it was a dead simple business model But the truth is if you do your own google adverts you could save £150 per week By just limiting your ads to a tight local area Don't think it would work for firewood ...not enough profit ...possibly for more expensive stuff such as garden landscaping, groundworks etc It wasn't seo .......but then thats a different game.....
  5. Did bit of thinking about this 1) need to break thefts down into categories ----- 2) put flag on map in bright colour that fades over a period so you can see where they have been 3) option to see individual or linked categories, Would have other uses too......
  6. If its going to be proper market It needs to be perfect Nice sealed paper bag, with right amount of mini logs would be 100% Supply paper sack with bagged up logs inside, just open sack and chuck one on, all nice and clean ......
  7. Idleness isn't worth a damm Unless its well carried out
  8. Priority number one :- what are you going to do and whos going to give you ££££ for doing it. Know your market and then go for it..... Limited co dead easy to set up - dont use solicitor get cheapest off google - a limited company will save you from robbing astards who will try to take you at some point Find someone good to do your legal stuff - terms and conditions, health n safety etc - not having this 100% can cost you thousands, Ask around there are guys working from home who can do this well and economically Get a good file for every invoice you get, never never buy summat without an invoice, they are the same as pound notes, and keep them safe Dont give credit if you can possibly avoid it, i made this mistake with my first business and had to go to court with 24 companies to get my ££££ ....its a huge cost and time waster so dodge that bullet ......cash up front please Worst customer isn't time waster who doesn't give you the job, its the astard who gives it you then doesn't pay..... Good luck
  9. I've been thinking along same lines for a bit When we had solid fuel rayburn thought bag of coal just right size would have been clean and convenient Ditto with these mini logs, i think they might be awkward as they come out of machine, and you'd have to use a scuttle, all a bit messy But has potental
  10. Stick council workers on bonus 10% of what they save, and first one to put claim in gets it ( bit of competition there) Then reduce department budget by savings each year Be razor sharp within 3 years When I worked in StHelens pilkington glass had bonus scheme where biggest saving got guy a new car, one year someone said " you know that warehouse you demolished , why not turn the heating off!" he got new talbot avenger for that!
  11. Council were working on our lane prior to resurfacing work Never seen people work so slowly Friend gave guy a lift and they'd hired his jcb for three! Months and used it for two weeks He was happy but what a waste of £££££££
  12. Bit under £3k if I remember right Wouldn't mind hiring one for a few days
  13. Spaniel took a ham that was soaking to get salt out from off worktop and under a plate Never seen such a thirsty dog He also had habit of taking wallets out of visitors pockets and bringing me the wallet ....... Good boy ......
  14. I think ww2 was different story, nazi's had to be stopped...... No argument there But if toffs hadn't supported franco ww2 might have been averted
  15. I'm starting to get really really angry when I look at list of kids on cenotaph who were killed for nothing in WW1 What a fu**ing waste .........nearly classful from our village.....and thats not counting wounded whose lives were ruined In france they call them "children who were killed" better description I think It's amazing we didn't have revolution in 1920's, my missis thinks everyone was just too tired.....
  16. Problem is he has a TITLE So that makes him feel he is ENTITLED to fancy job whilst he is actually bl**dy useless bit of a problem with our system ....... We've all met these useless gits with degrees in bunny hugging who are put in charge but know nothing I needed report writing and approached girl who had relevant qualifications, I could have done it in a morning but wasn't allowed to do it Even though fee was nearly £1000 not interested, I couldn't get my head round it till I found out she was being paid £500 A NIGHT to watch otters on the river dee ..... They were frightened a jcb would scare them off ....... I wouldn't be interested in working if I could get money like that....
  17. Small claims court is way to go We put 24 people in court in 12 months Load of grief but too much £££ to ignore Got it all in But even after winning we had to put baliffs into axa insurance co...... Pillochs
  18. Idleness isn't worth a dam unlss its well carried out
  19. Ruthin flooded few years ago ....pictures on national tv rescuing people in jcb buckets, boats etc Council spent £3m on new flood defences My fencer said he was talking to jcb driver who'd just retired who said " in 1950's he could drive his jcb under bridge in middle of ruthin, just before floods there was about 2 foot clearance under bridge" They could have saved fortune by dredging After spending £3m On flood defence for about 1/2 mile of river the rain flooded a brand new housing estate on flood plain literally with 1/2 mile of original flood Letter in local paper said some dodgyness had lowered the height of the houses above ground by 41cms .....saving fortune for builders ....but flooding new houses by 15cms And you have to wonder how they got planning on flood plain in first place I'm very cynical re council .......
  20. My missis says there was report on wireless that they had dammed the river to send more water into their bird reserve Dam seems to be working well........
