  1. Just sorted a 10T load for my son up in Leeds - I sense a bit more cut and split. I'm all limbered up for it. Bring it on
  2. A couple of days and a lot of tea
  3. Taking advantage of the cool dry weather i got the trusty maul and Stihl 025 out. All hand split. Funny how all the gnarly cross grained stuff gets left to the end. Now just got to stick it on pallets over the other side of the garden
  4. There's a few guys on there that are 'old steel' anoraks (not meant in a nasty way ) Just don't ask about 'sharpening'

    Walnut?

Assuming it is walnut it is must prized by folks that make pizzas and smoked foods. When you eventually put a few lumps on your stove just think of the guys selling 5 kg bags of walnut chips for £30/bag on Ebay and start crying
  7. Some authority or other needs to shut these down. Total con.
  8. You're right in that. There are good and generous folk around. Just not enough of them.
  9. "the lady I am working for said that she had a room all made up for me...... Mmm more to tell??

  11. You don't get many of them to a kilo
  12. Still using one of the stoves in the evenings.
  13. Interesting. As a bit of an experiment to check on the outdoors seasoning of some milled green walnut I dried a piece (left near the stove) and over 2 months and it has lost some 38% of its weight.
  14. What's cake got to do with this?
  15. £160k a year and living in a council flat - true socialist.
  16. Bump - Nobody got anything - say 20 mile or so radius Kirkstall, Leeds?
  17. Or perhaps use a draw knife? Maybe find one in your local depot vente or vide grenier sale.

    Good work and keep safe.
  22. Very nice work. Did something similar on a barn with random stone walling some years back. Took ages. Afterwards I asked a pro mason how on earth he managed to make any money doing walls etc. He said the secret is - pick up a stone and always place it, never put it back on the ground. Thought I'd share that
  23. Guys Thanks for the replies/PMs:thumbup:
  24. Any of you guys based around Notts/West Yorkshire? I'm after a few boards for some rustic furniture projects. Thanks
  25. Sack the EA quango and get the Dutch over - they know a thing or two about draining wetlands
