Lucan Two gems indeed Really can't beat a good old fashioned woven cane log basket. The most recent one I bought was only £30 at the Southwell Ploughing Show. Distinct advantage is that you get a lot of change from $1580 and your partner doesn't have to wear it just carry it

Both the chimneys are unlined and I've been doing them for some 20 years. Both have 'odd' smoke shelves where soot collects and there's a fair bit of work involved with a hand trowel and flex vac house to get these cleaned off. The one time I used a chimney sweep he didn't do any of that. As for insurance I'm confident that the chimneys are well swept each year.

I sweep both our chimneys late summer - no big deal. The clean up afterwards is easy. I leave it to Mrs Hanser

Felix - thanks, you're right. He was just shy of 14 years. Typical terrier, a little feisty now and again but easy going with kids etc. Ooops something in my eye again!
