  1. First thing to do would be to tackle the open fires/non DEFRA stoves in 'clean air' areas and the folk who burn crappy old pallets and chipboard. Plenty for Sadiq Khan to have a go at without blanket bans.
  2. Great work guys. Pleasure to see it in the countryside.
  3. Good luck and best wishes to you and your family.
  4. Stihlmadasever A sad day. Only a dog owner will now how you feel. Such is the strength of the bond. I am feeling for you and your wife.
  5. Kev Callan of this parish (Kevcal) and crew carried out treework at my house in the run up to Xmas and I am dealing with the arisings from a big old horse chestnut (rotting) and several other heavy reductions along a boundary with a primary school field. Nice afternoon for a bit of cutting/stacking and burning some of the small stuff that didn't make it to the chipper.
  6. The house was built with a mix of pantiles/rosemary skirt. Guess the builder around WW1 was just using what he had around. We copied the style when the house was recovered 20 years ago. The new porch tiles are clays wheres we used concretes. The construction is a you see it - Pegged M&T's with a few coach screws to a give a helping hand
  7. It is weighty. To counter this there are 8 Fischer m12 anchor bolts and the horne of each bracket is in the brickwork. Doing the tiling I've put my dainty 15 stone on it. I reckon it should be ok. Mmmm having gone from softwood regency style windows and fought to keep paint on them and keep rot away I think I'll stick with my plastic ones!
  8. Hi guys Many thanks for the complements. Have to say I'm generally no good at the drawing/design stuff but I think I got it just right - this time Also a thankyou to Zach of PeakOakFrames who helped with the sticks.
  9. I thought you guys might like at a look at a porch that I made for home. It worked out ok but took a while to get the joints right etc. Don't think the framers need worry too much about new competition. Still, it kept me out of the house and away from the list of jobs my wife wants me to do
  10. Really sorry to read your news. There's some scum about! I feel for you the loss of your grandfather's tools.
  11. I'd speak to your customer and see if they are friendly with a close neighbour on the Lane that would let you park up etc in a driveway. Might cost you a few quid in facilitation. Your customer may even have some access rights themselves to their garden via the Lane. I live on a similar un adopted road and we all recognise that now and again the road is obstructed with work vans etc. It's generally not a problem vans/lorries get shifted etc. It helps to pop a few leaflets through the door and definitely avoid bin days! Unfortunately you seem to have bumped into a Victor Meldrew type
  12. How about giving up on the piccies. You're doing my neck in
  13. Jon Still too cold for the Mrs to get out in the garden and do a bit of winter pruning. Apparently
  14. Both our stoves have been out now for 24 hours. House is plenty warm. 10 C in Nottingham right now (0900) with 14 C forecast around midday.
  15. I stack/split whenever my wife brings out her list of jobs she wants doing. Just make sure you've always got some green stuff handy to get stuck into. Works well for me.
  16. Hi Mark I sent my son Mike a link to your thread and he's taking a load - many thanks for sorting that out with him.
  17. I drive a 2006 A6 2.7 V6 dti auto bought new. It averages 37mpg and will do 45mpg on long motorway runs. In terms of maintenance I've only ever had to pay for routine service/wear items. Fantastic car/engine.
  18. Richard Thanks for the clarification. I saw your first post and read it as a before and after shot and was struggling to work out what you'd done. It's a nice shape and should look lovely this Spring.
  19. Sailing a 1952 6 ton Hillyard, moored Poole. Rather, I should have said 'maintaining a ...' Pesky wooden boats
  20. Copford Very nice slabs!
  21. Hertswood Very nice setting! Is the mill functional/going to be once restored?
