  2. ".....but as of today our college football team is 10-0 so that's not too shabby. When you talk football to us Brits you need to be more specific. Do you mean Rugby football, Association football or American football? 10-0 sounds impressive but is that a match result or 10 games won without any losses? Anyhow... a big welcome Grizzly from a 'weekend warrior' who enjoys the 'big country' programs on the Discovery Channel ie Mountain Men, Alaska -last frontier.

Sick of them already and it's not mid November yet. Please tell me I'm not the only one
  4. A couple of years back I bumped into a strawberry grower and got chatting. These folk, small growers in Dorset had supplied one of the big supermarkets. They'd got good orders for one of the big summer weekends and delivered the lot to spec. The weather turned, the soft fruits didn't sell and the supermarket came up with an excuse to reject the lot. The bloke never got paid a cent and had to collect and dump the lot. How can they do that to folk?
  5. My Mrs bought a pack of carrots from Morrisons the other day - 45p for a kilo bag. Nice carrots -topped, washed etc. Can anyone explain the economics? Take out the big shed profit and then the rest of the costs - transport, a bit of warehousing, more transport, packing, waste, processing, harvesting, sowing, field prep etc. Can only be fractions of a penny left for the farmer. Just wondering.

Seeing as we now have 3 grandchildren up to the age of 6 she may have a point So, the other weekend I built a more secure storage facility. Ok, its a bitsa but it's cost me nowt and does the job. It holds 3 cube and is additional to my main log store which you can see to the left hand side of the garage which holds 20 cube.
