  1. You can get some sort of calming pill from the vets.
  2. Yeah two supports fixed to the uprights and fixed with hex head screw sleeper fixings. Plug the holes with some off cuts. Sometimes i might use tight bond 3 wood glue and on the thinner benches fix a centre support under seat. Make sure you get the distance right between the seat and the back as the first one i made they were to close together and found that your backside was perched on the edge of the seat so had to slide it forwards.
  3. Always worth a try felix
  4. Hi Lee you might have someone local to you that might have a mill to show you and to help you to get started. I'm in Hampshire if your not to far. Kev
  5. Depends on the size timber you want to mill. You can go for the 48'' Alaskan and adjust it to take any size bar up to that. If you are going to be milling a lot go for the Alaskan from Rob but don't like to say but if just the odd tree the copy mill might do. I have three mills from Rob and have milled tons of lumber with no problems. You could also buy the 24'' and add longer rails to it at a later date or buy the mini mill just goes on and on. I use my mini mill on the husky 365 with a 24'' bar and works a treat. Get a mill get the bug and have fun. Kev
  6. After reading this booked tomorrow off to go pike fishing as not been for over a year. Broadlands Romsey if anyone going.
  7. Just checked over my Yew and Cedar of (Leb) i milled last year with out sealing the ends and all fine. Sticker stored under cover out of the sun with good air flow seem to work. I used to seal the ends on Oak but don't bother as found if it wants to split it will sealed or not. As Big J said winter best for the hard woods. Have fun. Kev
  8. Looks very good to me what a skill and a great gift for the community. Always a shame to here of things being stolen. Good on you for stepping in to help out again.
  9. splated Sycamore and Cedar
  10. Ouch did the same on some Oak the other day. Have you milled Plum before just got some windblown in nothing to big but looks lovely and pinky purple heartwood. Be milling it in a few months. Kev
  11. It is indeed a lot easier on the body with a winch fitted.
  12. Wish i can say the same about husky as they seem to be far behind on the launch of a long reach Li hedge cutter. Dealer told me some time next year but got told that last year. Also went to order the 12v charger they have advertised in the catalog only to be told not launched yet. Me thinks made wrong choice Grrrrrrr. But saying that the two saws and strimmer seem ok so will just have to learn how to be patient.
  13. I just use a couple of axle stands to help with the load. Ok on hard ground or blocks for soft ground but its just more stuff to lug around but does job for me.
  14. Looks like someone is going to be busy.
  15. Same for us most of work in back garden using the TW 13/75 and hire a bigger chipper when needed. Kev
  16. Just replaced my Silky last week and see the above and just had to have ago today. Nothing to special made from Oak. Got the handle bug now. Learned a lot by making the first so next one will be a bit easier and quicker. Got the next one cut ready (Yew) for tomorrow. Oh don't make the mistake i did and use your old handle for a template for the new one as that and the sheath are different Still don't know how you put up pics but got a couple on my site. Lumber to Wonder Kev
  17. It's about time make it a lot easier . Defo need a set when i get the funds.
  18. Been offered a wind blown Black Poplar is it worth milling. It's about 4.5ft dia x 40ft
  19. Had my Ranger done by them about three years ago. It was a good job for the money but wouldn't use again as took six months even though it was booked in for two week slot. Wouldn't answer the phone left message after message even had to get a local Arbtalk member to see what was going on. Got a photo on my Facebook gka garden services. Hopefully they are a lot better nowadays. Kev

Not watched one game not my sort of thing.Er in doors watching it as she thinks it's a comedy show. Is that right the hob knobs are loooooooosing. Sack the lot of the useless duckers give their wages to local charities as they haven't worked for them.
  23. I brought some epoxy resin few years back shop said that most resins are food safe as they use it to line the inside of food tins. Not sure if they were winding me up or not but made me spend my money and never used the stuff. Had a look in the shed and can't find it to see the make. Last board i made i filled the crack with food safe tight bond 3 mixed some fine saw dust in with it sorted.
  24. Fit a winch to your mill Andymacp . Used my mill the other week after fitting the winch after a year doing it the hard way and just can't believe how much easier it makes the job and it was on a 3.5ft Oak. Happy milling.
