  1. Been using the Katsu one for the last year not missed a beat. Looks the same as the Logosol,Oregon machines but for a lot less.
  2. I would have three or four logs out ready take off the first cut from them all in one go set the mill to 2'' and just keep cutting amazing how much you can mill like this. No tea breaks or lunch hour quick slurp and a bite when sharpening and a saw refuel. It helped keeping most @ 2'' thick so not wasting to much time adjusting the mill as still have the older style Alaskan. Running the 660 with the 36'' low pro setup. Not all days are like it and when it's not i do say to myself why.
  3. Just pleased that i re fitted the winch kit the night before. Just a quick tickle with the file from time to time. A few choc bars and fizzy drinks works fine for this 52 year old boy.
  4. Been flat out over the last three days milling Oak up to 16 ft long and 28'' wide max x 2'' t for a client. There are some more boards and some mantles the other side of the stack. All done with the Alaskan. One very very happy customer.
  5. I have the older model and love it. I would like the 3 phase electric one to use on mine one day. Enjoy.
  6. Yeah that's the one. Used to be free but still worth it.
  7. I use the Norwood app for a rough idea. Free to download.
  8. Sorted bloody kids or er in doors to stop me shopping.
  9. Am i doing something wrong as trying to order on the panther site and it's got all these funny words i don't understand. Not in English anyone else got this.
  10. I might be in if it works out better than the directory I'm on that seems to have a lot of old adverts and won't let me update it. I like the idea of us passing on each others details say if I'm to busy or the jobs to far etc.
  11. WOW ALL THAT WOOD On site milling in Hampshire Alaskan mill 36'' and 48'' Logosol farmers mill www.facebook.com/wowallthatwood/

    Logosol f2

I've been using the farmers mill f1 for almost a year fab bit of kit. Running ms660 with a 20'' low pro setup. I had a deal on an ex demo one and brought the log steps saw carridge extra log clamp. I also would love a bandsaw mill but don't have the storage space and this system suits my needs for now. Also run three Alaskan mills for the bigger slabs.
  13. Made a start on some Ash today. To think it was going to be ringed up.
  14. Nice looking boards. I to have some Olive Ash to mill for some table tops.
  15. Finished these for a client. Oak dining table and benches made from their own tree i was called in to mill and a Oak memorial bench.
  16. Finally got to mill the Black Pop. Did 12 slabs to put straight in the kiln to see how they dry out before milling anymore.
  17. Had a nice day out milling up some Alder today.
  18. Good job that. I'm on my ninth load now. Great bit of kit.
  19. Maybe Black Pop if cut by wet ground. Not milled any yet but i do know of a large wind blown that i might mill one day. Getting a rare tree know. Should get some nice boards. Put some pics up when you've cut some.
  20. Sorry to here about this again. Amazing how persistent these scumbags are. Some of the farms I'm working on have had a few of them. They have found the alarm guns with trip wires seem to be working the 12 gauge ones. Hope your feeling better soon.
  21. Hi Teed. I enjoy watching your videos and thanks to you I'm a lot poorer. I like all the machines you have. I'd like to have the speed saw set up one day but no 3 phase at the moment. Keep up the good work. Kev https://www.facebook.com/wowallthatwood.
  22. Yeah fill the bottom with water. They say you don't need to with green timber but i still do. Aim for around 8% mc. I try and sell as much of it as i can hence why i have this setup as don't have much storage space so now with most wood i can mill it put it straight in the kiln the same day and get it sold within a few weeks. Got a cheap temp gauge that sticks through the foam and use the Stihl mc reader. You get i rough idea when close to dry when you can't see much steam coming out from the vents. I did have problems with the plastic air vents sticking so replaced them with stainless ones.
  23. I've just taken out my sixth load. Fab bit of kit. I've got the 2 KW version built my own cabinet 8x4x4. Still a lot to learn on drying different timbers. First couple of loads were Dawn Redwood that dried in about two weeks. 7 ft long up to 24'' w x 50mm t. Just taken my first load of Oak out that i dried on a very low heat for 33 days. Had boards up to 6ft long x 35''w x 50mm t and some 3x3 posts and a couple burrs. I do air dry Oak and Sweet Chestnut for six months. Not put any SC in yet as not been air dried long. I did have a few leaks from the door that i think I've finally sorted with door rubber used on cars. Still get some movement and splitting but hopefully that will only improve over time with the heat settings. Been keeping a log book on each drying to look back on.
  24. Not sure if you have already tried this.
  25. You can adjust the two log bed uprights. Got a nut on the bottom you adjust to square them up. Had to do it on mine.
