  1. Thanks guys will take a look at that.
  2. Was milling when saw started fine and ran fine but dying when starting to cut. You can feather it to build the revs but dies again as soon as it meets resistance. Changed plug but no difference. Still starts and runs fine. Any ideas where I should start looking ?
  3. This is what I reckon caused the oil leak. The metal flange must have separated from the clutch when it overheated and sheared the elbow connection of the oil pump leaving a small gash. Parts ordered and fingers crossed. Thanks for all the help .
  4. Cheers for that . I’ve got a good idea of what I’m looking at now. I will check all that out, thanks. There is oil around the joint of the oil suction hose and pump which I am going to look at tomorrow too. Only had time today to strip it down tonight. Thanks again
  5. Thank for that guys. I don’t have a problem stripping it down just needed a couple of pointers as to what to look for when I am doing it. Thanks Frammo will look at that and rig something up for the air. The saw does fine milling for my needs on my Logosol F1, just for projects of my own . Don’t cut big slabs .
  6. Yeah well we don't all do that for a living that's why I was looking for a bit of advice.
  7. I wonder if someone can help me. I was milling with my Stihl ms 391 last week when the saw ended up smoking. It turns out the circlip had come off the rim sprocket so no oil distribution. I have replaced rim and sprocket, bearing and clutch and everything is running well thankfully except oil is leaking from underneath . It is still oiling the bar and chain but it is oozing out from under the sprocket . The machine never leaked before. Is the oil pump needing replaced or could seals or something have gone with the overheating ? Any advice welcome.
  8. That’s great , I have a use for it . Only thing is that a lot of it is too big for my little Logosol mill so I might need to take what I can and saw up the rest. If there is anyone else in the Ayrshire area interested in the whole thing then let me know.
  9. This Scots Pine was blown down 3 years ago and is lying on other fallen timbers keeping it off the ground. It's about 60 ft long , 28-30ins diameter down to 14-15 ins diameter. The people who own the grounds would like something to be done with it other than firewood. I know Scots Pine isn't durable so can anyone tell me if there is any use for it. ? I
  10. Yep. I’m definitely leaning towards the Granberg . It looks like it leaves less error to be made by me. Watched the videos and it seems fairly straight forward without a lot of stripping down.
  11. Thanks to everyone for all the advice .There’s quite a range of spec to choose from. Can you grind the depth gauge rakers with the likes of the Lidl machine or the Katsu ?
  12. Thanks for that . I’ll have a look into it this weekend. Cheers !
