1. Just wondering how noisy these are as thinking of putting the petrol version in my concrete block workshop about 25 yards away from neighbours with insulation and cladding. It will only be used in the workshop as a hobby the odd week day but would like the option of using it on site if needed to. Also can the track be made shorter say to seven to eight feet. Going to treat myself for my big fifty this year sawmill or Harley er in doors not happy with Harley save that for 60th. Kev
2. I've got the trade version fab machine. Got it hanging on the wall. I did make another plate where you connect the hose as the original one has a metal cross over the inlet hole which i guess stops big chunks damaging the machine but i was forever unblocking the machine when working it hard.
3. There's a couple of demo videos on youtube for the new 536 LI HE3 long reach cutter. Seems to me that Husqvarna are way behind on the launch of this machine as other manufactures have been selling these for ages. On sale next month i think. Might have to add this to the collection of the LI series. Oh and the 12v car charger.
4. Customer told me a couple of years back that they treat their garden furniture with waterproof pva. Not ever used so can't comment.
5. Cedar cake stand
6. I've use Cedar of Leb nice to work with easy on the tools not had any split ok to burn or carve words into. I did mill into boards and dry then cut rounds on the bandsaw.
7. Good job. Nice wood and mill.
8. Second all that. It is hard work trying to sell milled timber. Iv'e got lumber stored everywhere even indoors from small to large boards, bowl blanks, spindles, beams, posts, rustic garden furniture, coffee tables etc etc etc. Just started to sell some bowl blanks but given the time from log to blank i'm still losing money. Just treating it as a hobby and if i can get a bit of money it's a bonus and I'll use that for more tools and running costs etc. It is a shame to log decent wood for firewood but at the end of the day we all got bills to pay.
9. Wish i was a bit closer 7hr round trip doh
10. I'll be able to join the old fart club in December so see you all then. Kev
11. I use my Husky 365 with a 24'' bar chain filed to 10 deg let the saw do the work don't force it maybe fit a winch to the mill. Also use my 550 with a 16'' low pro bar and chain again filed to 10 deg to cut the smaller stuff ready for my small workshop bandsaw.
12. The Alaskan mill has two bolts with points on the ends to bite into the bar
13. I to went from 02 ranger to 08 and although i loved my old one i love the new one even more. Nice to drive yearly service Had no 4x4 but simple pipe fix sorted that. put right and wrong way up pic hoping that one might be right way up DAM pics upside down again HELP
14. I find Oak a real pain to dry and mill as posts or beams and that old tree will still have some moisture in it. If you are desperate for some kiln dried Oak some b&q stores sell milled boards as do some of the lads on here sell plenty but still good chance of movement once brought inside.
15. A door knob. Nah just getting into carving and was looking at what sells had a to laugh when this popped up and once improved was thinking of selling a few bits but how can you make a bit of money when so much imported stuff for sale at cheap prices. Do any of you guys have much luck selling stuff as i can't seem to sell much. House is full of tables bowls wine racks bowl blanks pen blanks milled timber. Small bits of milled timber for the hobbyist is getting a bit of interest but making items i'm putting on hold for now. Did some fairs this year but no good. I get the impression that hand made items are slowly fading away as with the trades that go with them and people sooner buy some mass produced imported crap from the big stores. Maybe some of you can take a minute and look at my site any advice welcome. http://www.lumbertowonder.com Kev
16. Wooden Smoking Holder Ashtray Shape Penis 20 cm Natural Beige or Brown Colours | eBay Own up to them who ever you are.
17. I've got some air dried Oak two matching slabs and two more cut through centre but i think it's about 1.8 m long x 800mm wide x 35mm thick. If any good let me know and I'll pull them out of the bottom of the pile and get exact size. Milled these to make garden table and benches but garden already filled up. £60 a slab collection from Southampton Kev Forgot to ask for indoor or out side as i would try and get some kiln dried for inside.
18. Thanks it's a good tool. Loves flesh so i now use my pike fishing glove. This is something i can do sat in front of the log burner and burn the mistakes. I'm hoping to use this hobby as a starting point to do some chainsaw carving later not sure if er in doors will be happy. Maybe if i buy her a hoover for xmas.
19. I've just got myself the flexcut carving jack from Axminster as they have a good deal on them at the moment and i have a Mora detail and spoon knife that work fine but i'm new to this and have no idea what's good and bad. After a bit of practice this was my first carving. sorry for pics wrong way

So Fed Up

AS above. I went through this faze about a year or so ago. So found a new hobby wood working. Got the Alaskan mills lathe etc so now look forward to tree work more as i can incorporate the two together. It's strange how the mind works and not sure how to explain but combining the two together makes my day job feel like my hobby to as i look at the wood i process from trees for the next wood work project and not just as another job but the bonus of being paid which is the most important thing. Sitting down and talking to someone very close to you can help but some people find that hard and chatting on sites like this an easier way to open up. I like to think it's like one big family here and you will get some good advice. Hope you get sorted.
21. How about the Stihl/Husky li range. Been using my Husky today to cut up all the milling waste great bit of kit.
22. Just been looking at the video for the DR self feeding chipper bit like the TW 13/75 but look at it. Give it a month and it will shake its self to death. Think i might have a look at making a top discharge chute for my TW 13/75 like the DR one
23. Got given some Plum a couple of months back that was destined for the fire so milled it up with the 550 fitted with the low pro bar and chain filed to 10 deg. Worked a treat as max dia was about 11''. DON'T KNOW WHY PICS ARE UPSIDE DOWN
24. I use Thornton 4X4 breakers. Might be worth a go
