  1. Its always worth phoning the fire brigade to tell them what and when you are burning. It will save them turning up and asking the questions when the local jobsworth/nosy/ nimby makes the totally unnecessary call. They appreciate it. Bob
  2. How much is a 205 ltr barrel of your chain gloop at the moment. We are nearly out. Bob
  3. Thats exactly the same as the one that was stolen.. Bob
  4. I dont know what they are rated at but the tractor has a 1" steel rope on it which has snapped on a few occasions and the C hook has never opened up. As catweazle pointed out they were probably forged out of old truck halfshafts because they made from 35mm ish thick diameter steel. The nearest look alike is in the image below. Anyway I have told my mum so god help the person who nicked it. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=157559&stc=1&d=1401279958
  5. You probably used this one because it was on AJ`s tractor, anyway it is a lot easier to attach a c hook to a bond and winch rope. I will now be fumbling about with those poxy shackles until I can find a replacement Bob
  6. I use snap on stuff because its got a lifetime guarantee which the guys in the van stand by with no exception. I am not saying that its the best but when you buy a 1/2" ratchet for £75 and they then replace the guts for free dozens of times over the next 20 years it makes it a very cheap ratchet. Same for spanners ,the torx, allen, ribe and screw driver bits. they seem expensive but mine have all been replaced dozens of times for nowt. I dont think its a good idea to buy stuff like this on the strap but its good value for money if you can stretch to it. Bob
  7. Some dirty ,stinking, lightfingered, thoughtless. selfish, brain dead moron has stolen the C hook off my winch tractor while parked in the woods in Baughurst near Tadley, hants. Its been with us for over thirty years and from my research cannot be replaced. Gutted. Bob
  8. There used to be a commercial breakers called Bennets in Crowthorne which is only a short trek from here , they always had a shed load of PTO equipment and hydraulics that were taken off airport, council , BT and other utilities vehicles. They never seemed to have a market for it so I used to by the stuff by the pallet load for peanuts. That gearbox in the pic was among the last lot I bought. Bob
  9. I will get some snaps of the damage to our 24" morbark that was crane fed a piece of roadplate:thumbdown: Bob
  10. About 80,000 planted and carried out maintenance on about 40,000 inc watering contracts. Bob
  11. Gray That pto in the pics runs straight off the layshaft so its got a fixed speed and only works with the box in neutral , I have got another one that interrupts the prop to the transfer box that would as you say run the gears. One of the transfer boxes on the 7.5 tonners has a pto flange very similar to the one in the pic facing backwards that was used to power a gully sucker. So there are a few options if you want to power things off the back or front of an RB. Bob
  12. I am using the PTO on the RB to run a chipper. The one I have that came on a gearbox is made by drum, happens to be good for 40hp which is ok for a 6" chipper. The flange size is landrover so that will make an easy to get shaft to the back of the wagon , it will need a few support bearings on the way though. The other good thing about this type of pto is that you can also take off the front at the same time which will give you hydraulics via a diverter for winch and roller feeds. Bob
  13. Aside of the dangers of working on slopes perhaps hire a big saw with a 5` bar and see how you get on. If you get to swing a 5`bar around all day you will sleep well Bob
  14. I dont know if I would ever have 100 percent trust in something that relies on electronics for its ultimate stability. I think I will stick with the old school clunkers we have that have mechanical limitations for reach/height vs counterweight. Bob
  15. Put curly bits in the stack and the haulier is likely to push a sharp stick in your eyeball. Cant think of anything worse:thumbdown: Bob
  16. Not good. I cant see what would have took it over because the yard is just flat concrete. Man dies after cherry picker crane he was in falls onto the M25 | Mail Online Bob
  17. You got me worried so I just popped our single cab 90t350 tipper on the weigh bridge. Front axle with driver but empty of fuel was 1240kg and total 2380kg so just over the ton carrying capacity depending on load distribution. No point in having the high sides really because the three cubic meters of chip it can legally carry would only half fill the standard tipper body. With the front axle max at 1600kg you would have to keep all of your load over the back axle because with a passenger and a full tank the front axle would be on its limit. POS really Bob
  18. Men in sheds I have got both the single wheel and twin wheel RB`s and the only difference between them is the 7.5 ton gross one has a twin wheel rear axle and runs the 17.5 tyres on conventional rims. This 17.5 rim does not leave much choice for off road rubber. Bob
  19. I dont know about the body on that truck but I just bought an ali sided tipper body with a tool locker to go on an RB and I dont think the whole thing weighs 1/2 a ton. It can certainly be pulled about by two blokes. IVECO DAILY 2003 TIPPER BODY WITH HYDRAULIC PUMP | eBay Bob
  20. Dont forget to subtract the weight of the residual chip that gets jammed in everything like the heater vents, door pockets ,cab etc and all the old coke cans and maccy D wrappers. . You might be down to 500kg. Bob
  21. . The drivers cpc exemptions are still undergoing fine tuning, they are going to finalise the ones for AG/forestry shortly. Extract The government is also reviewing whether the scope of exemptions can be extended in respect of farmers – and has said it will also be reissuing guidance shortly . This will considerably cut burdens on this small group. VOSA clarifies transitional enforcement around new Driver CPC exemptions - Transport Operator - Transport Operator Bob
  22. If you get a civvy one with the twin wheel rear axle they are a 7.5 tonner but have an 11 ton train weight. Bob http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=156628&stc=1&d=1400438990
  23. Put an axe through this lot then And no its not mine. Bob
  24. I had an old range rover with air shock/load levelers on it. When I scrapped it I put a pcl fitting in the compressor and use it for pumping up tyres. A bit heavy duty but really quick and its good enough to blow out saws. I have tried all the cheap ones and they dont last five minutes. This one will run for hours. Bob
  25. And when the human race is finished and has made the world uninhabitable it will be plant life that reduces everything we have built to soil. What would be left of anything on this planet if vegetation went unchecked for a thousand years? And that is a mere blink in time considering the millions of years this planet has been here. Bob
