  1. I know what the beef is and I will sign it but we claim back all the fuel costs be it for the truck, chipper ,saws and whether its petrol ,derv, red diesel or two stroke oil. Bob
  2. As above or drop the overall gearing a tad, that is very easy to do and would make hauling that weight a lot easier. Bob
  3. This in my experience on the TW is key, that and a decent quality torx bit. The other thing is to make sure the flywheel is locked up so you can concentrate on keeping the torx bit square and located on the bolt while undoing them. In the event of having to deal with a mashed up head ( normally when the doughnuts have had a go at changing them ) I have found a decent quality cold chisel will have them chopped round and undone in seconds. It also helps to gag the bolt in copper slip prior to fitting. Bob edit. I need to learn to type faster.
  4. I have converted the hinges on our telehandler to lift off hinges. The lads launch the door into the bushes while in use and only stick it back on to lock it up. Hydrostatic is a good set up and you get a bit less roll back. Bob

Dont take much notice of the high price track rod ends, my local truck factors matched the ones on my telehandler to a merc truck. less than £100 a pair, they have all the info on cone sizes and thread diameters so its not hard to find a match. from memory I think I had to trim off about 20mm of thread to make them the same as the ones that came off.   7. Them Talians:thumbdown: have a different system to us, they are given a quota of rebated fuel that is related to the acreage of their farm. Someone has calculated what they could possibly use and thats your lot. Bob
  8. One of our customers has bought a few sticks off us and it transpires he has been making wine racks from them. He showed them to me and was chatting about how hard it was using a drill, he had burned out a few. I suggested he tried the wolf gut buster from our workshop and it apparently it breezes through it, you need to make sure it does not snag because if the bit stops its you that rotates at 600rpm. In return he has loaned me the 92mm bit so I will have a go at making one.

  10. This must be about right because I used red in an old lorry on the farm for about 2 years just as a dumper. When I put it back on the road I emptied the fuel and stuck a can of white in it to run it down for test, it was stopped by C+E and was ok so that small trace which was the capacity of the filters and pipes is not enough for them to worry about. The RAMS for that job would have made an interesting read Al with the Avant running that close to the empty pool The only problem with introducing kit like that is the lads begin to expect it on every job and can end up a little workshy. We have a thing called a Schaffer but the cg is a lot higher than the Avant which makes it a bit unstable on rough ground , low cg is really important if you are thinking of buying something along these lines.   12. I dont understand what the fuss is all about, anyone using red or white is paying tax but at a different rate . Diesel comes out of the refinery at around 12p a liter so after that figure the rest is distribution , forecourt profit and tax. Whatever we are using be it red or white is a legit business expense which we firstly claim the VAT back from and the difference is knocked off the taxable profit. Most farmers run the flat rate VAT system where they claim non of VAT back but still claim all of the fuel costs back from the taxable profit. Its just a tax merry go round. And while we are giving the farmers a bashing spare a thought for those that are not having it off that resort to this. Its not all a bowl of cherries pardon the pun. First bit of excitement , boy racer has just demolished a section of barrier here on the m25 , less than 5 minutes ago there were ten guys stood there with strimmers a tractor and a gulley sucker.   17. While you lot are sleeping I have to ferry this beast of a fast track round sections of the M25 for my mate who has a night time grass cutting contract. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring finished at 5.30am this morning and am out again two more nights :thumbdown: I have got my Ipad so I can still spy on you lot Bob
  18. I know these threads go around in circles on this but as you stated a mog is allowed on the motorway but only if it is registered PLG or goods. By taxing it as an ag vehicle you are running red diesel, paying no road tax and not having to plate it or run on an operators license. I run mogs and there is no way will I go on the motorways round here after the last runnings we had with VOSA . As I put on a previous post it was only because of a timed out court case that we were not fined for numerous offences including the drivers license not covering him for that weight of vehicle.They are a bit more on it in these parts which is why you will not see any ag vehicles including mogs on the motorways.   19. I had a quick squint under the 7.5 ton RB and it has a completely different type of back axle, the fronts are the same. There are no tags to indicate what ratios they are but a quick look on the dodge 50 site seems to indicate there are two ratios available and they are 4.9 and 5.3 . I dont know which ones are in the 5.5 ton rb. Will keep digging. Bob
  20. No but the tipper body has a telescopic tipping ram which I am going to liberate to replace the pathetic scissor affair thats on our transit. Not much on the truck at the time but 30mts of skid marks prior to impact puts his speed at over thirty:lol: Bob
  21. My mates lad took his transit out and did this to it. He told his dad he was doing 30mph.( yeah right ) Good job there were no passengers they would have lost their legs .ironically he hit a parked ambulance. What do you reckon 50mph? Bob
  22. We only have the one guy driving that car and thats what he reckons it at. He fills it up once a week and hes in the thing most of the time, he has put over 150.000 miles on it in the four years he has had it. Take some legal advice on this because you cant take an agricultural vehicle on the motorway , the government changed the law on this with section 253. https://www.gov.uk/motorways-253-to-273/general-253-to-254 You can however register a mog as a truck but then all the weight restrictions,plating,o license, white diesel and taxation class will be the same as a truck.   24. +1 and dont forget the refresher courses, We have 3 first aiders , when the refresher courses come up its surprising how techniques and methods change in time. None of us feel its a waste of time.   25. GDG were re screening arb arisings for power station use but that stopped when the power stations started to get paid to incinerate household waste. Stobbarts now run arb chip abroad so there is a market for it but its a logistcal nightmare. Bob
