  1. Kinold and knackered Bob
  2. Large Tree Trunk , Saw Mill , Milling , Calving | eBay Kinell .At that rate I must have burnt a £billion in cash. Bob
  3. PAYE on a relevant tax code +being on the electoral role+ decent deposit + a good credit history + money in the bank + showing regular savings + finding a decent up together property = a sure fire mortgage. Not rocket science but you need to tick these boxes because they have loads of applicants that do so why lend to those that dont. Also a big mistake going to one lender because once you are refused a mortgage that counts as a minus on the next application. It has to be a broker, he will be in a position to pull the application if its not going well. Bob
  4. Thats the sort of set up I am after but I need the sub chassis set up with the twist locks , no luck on ebay so if nothing turns up I might have to get them fabricated or look out for a hook system . bob
  5. One of the lads that worked for me a few years ago went on his own and although he ran his own business he stayed PAYE. When he needed a mortgage he went through a broker and it was plain sailing , he has just bought a buy to let as a second property. Two properties as a 25 year old is not bad going and we are in the south where everything is mega expensive.Mind its tougher now than it was,I remember the days of buying houses and farms over the phone with the bank managers blessing, those days are gone. Bob
  6. Hows this for starters. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=160046&stc=1&d=1404053672
  7. Our Mk watering unit could do with a demount system so we can use it for other things like a tipper/timber/hiab truck. Its only used as a watering unit at the moment which is seasonal and a waste of a good truck. Has anyone got anything, may even consider a small hook loader? Bob
  8. Our mulchers are out all year round on site clearance , laurel / rhody bashing and shoots. There`s a time and place for everything and they are not for someones back garden. Bob
  9. Deal with it as you go on a daily basis , when the knarly horrid and oversized stuff turns up sort it straight away. We fell foul of this just stick it on the pile approach a few years ago and two guys spent a month clearing it up. Not to mention the loss of yard space. I know a few round here that just keep stacking it and they are in one hell of a mess. Bob
  10. I was behind one of these vans the other day , Brilliant. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=159881&stc=1&d=1403850201
  11. Jomoco I think that when it comes down to H&S and the well being of our staff we are all singing from the same hymn sheet. My term idiot may be a bit strong so in the absences of a more fitting term I will refer to them as LALA (less able labouring associates ). I know I could take an unbraked saw ,chop up a tree and feed it into a chipper with no safety equipment whatsoever. I guarantee I will not end up dead, cut or injured in any way as could every one else on here that used kit from yesteryear. I would be seriously concerned if I had to save the lives of four of my men from a chipper, I have as previously stated needed to pull lala`s to one side and retrain them on there use but thats where it stops. I can understand tedium setting in if faced with feeding a chipper all day and our lads take it in turn which breaks up the monotony . Its not the machines that are a problem its their operators and I feel that any more gadgets stuck to a chipper will become a PITA and get bypassed. Two drivers can set off in the same type of car on the same journey following the same route, one will get there and one will end up wrapped round a tree. Is the car at fault or is one of the drivers less abled ? Bob
  12. Trumps farm do take green waste but its very expensive. Our trailer holds about 15 transit loads of chip Rhys , if you need it let me know. It might save you a load of running about. Bob
  13. This is the first case of a man being eaten by a chipper that I have heard of and you need to put this in perspective. Worldwide thousands a week die from road traffic accidents and little to nothing is being done about that.Basic training for the use of a chipper is pretty much a no brainer but the misuse of it and how its operated once it leaves the yard will always be down to operator. I have had to give numerous b@ll@ckings to the lads over the years for leaning or reaching into chippers and in one case a guy was using his feet to stuff things through the rollers. The adage that you can build something idiot proof but someone will build a better idiot applies . Bob
  14. It looks like our 24" Morbark, if it is they are not littered with safety stops like modern EU chippers or at least ours wasn`t. With a 220hp 6 pot turbo Cummins on a rev it would make very short work of a guy. Still cant work out how he got pulled in. Bob
  15. I thought STYT was the best way ascertain timber values when buying. Its what everyone round here uses. Bob
  16. Two cheap draper jobs, one rigid ,one flexi and a decent air one in case there is a supply. Chuck the dirty stinking things in their own box with a few spare cartridges , spare nipples, associated spanners, and loads of rag . Job done. nothing wrong with the cheapies , they get run over, left on site and stolen just he same as a good one. Rye oils cartridges are about £1.20 a pop last time I bought a case of 30. Bob
  17. If you have a lot of trailers something like the one below would make sense, other than that just get yourself a Donk. Bob http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=159598&stc=1&d=1403460674
  18. Its biggest downfall is the engine, box, hiab, hydraulics cab and all the rest of the gubbins is bolted to a rigid chassis along with the rear axle which is fixed rigid with the exception of the turn table, the front axle has articulation from a center point on the turntable which in terms of stability turns everything into a tricycle. Non of this is a problem for its intended use because it load of muck was placed well back and very low. Hiab timber, bolsters make it worse because of the raising of the CG. Not to be confused with a normal dumper that swivels/pivots in the middle. Bob
  19. This is what they start life as http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=159531&http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=159532&stc=1&d=1403306201stc=1&d=1403306201
  20. I have exactly the same vehicle, both axles are on a turntable and only the front axle has any articulation . On anything other than flat ground the load pitches and it will pick up a back wheel. 100% a no go for forestry work , it would be on its side in minutes, all it is good for is clearing level sites to get the timber to the truck rather than trolley the sticks out widthways on the telehandler. Bob
  21. Not just because I am a land rover fan but you have to admit they do look the best of the bunch as a work truck. Bob
  22. Dual purpose could fit if you wanted to wear it. Dual-purpose vehicles, showman's goods vehicles and other vehicles that don't... Vehicles with permanent 'fixed equipment' such as a winch or generator. Bob
  23. We have an Amazon top and collect flail mower but it needs a fairly heavy tractor to operate it. Its like the one in the picture below but the 2.8mtr cut. Grassbox holds a couple of cubes of cuttings so it would make short work of that job. Bob http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=159443&stc=1&d=1403203202
  24. £450 a day for a telehandler + man cage inc operator with tickets, £200 a day for a climber with tickets for use with a saw in mewp. + transport and fuel. Ish:001_smile: Bob
  25. Ditto I will add its probably best to get some load leveling shocks or heavy duty springs to stop it looking overloaded even when they are not.
