  1. This guy is worth a call. I bought a cherry picker off him , he has a yard full of ex leccy board 4x4 Ivecos and Mercs at sensible money. He is easy to deal with. 4X4 Mercedes AK 1820 Crane, Hiab lorry, Front winch | eBay Bob
  2. I could have shown you pics of my sleeper bridge but it was converted into a raft all by itself the last time we had flash floods, it now lives a few farms away. Bob:thumbdown:
  3. Most here would have a different take on this but mine would be to fit the hiab on the back and make the tipper a three way tip. Down side to this is that some of what you tip tends to end up under the truck. The upside is the clear 180 degrees of crane usage and the ability to load a trailer as well. Decisions decisions Bob
  4. In Great Missenden it absolutely............ Bob
  5. I have been keeping these pine sticks back, hopefully they will make some decent fencing rails. And a few sticks of oak for some posts. Also some Yew for some garden furniture.
  6. I just cant imagine operating without a decent grab, its not just loading/unloading sticks . There are dozens of situations where they are a massive time/labour saving tool. Stuffing Hawthorn into the bulker bin for one:thumbup1: Bob
  7. Picked up the woodmizer last week Now I need to learn how to use it and max out on the timber I have here ready to mill:confused1: Get ready for many daft questions:blushing: Bob
  8. Clunky is an understatement you really need to be able to multi task with a crane so this method would be a last resort. Bob
  9. How easy all depends on the spool block, some spool blocks are bolted together and you can add extra sections to accommodate more services. Others are cast and will either need to be changed for one with the extra services , worst case scenario you could fit diverter valves on the pipes that service the legs . Bob

  11. FDI Sambron takes some beating if you can find one, no electronic lock outs and they punch well past their weight. Ours has been beaten to death but still runs well. Bob
  12. I dont think the merc truck/agri division know how to make a bad vehicle, which is more than can be said for the car manufacturing side of things . Bob
  13. I know the "rates" vary from one haulier to another but a lot of the variation can be down to how and where they operate from. If a truck is going to be parked up early in the day or is on an empty return run you may well get quoted a reduced rate, its a win win for everyone. I often move timber for mates in exchange for a cutter or climber when I need one. Nowt wrong with the bartering system in this country You just cant afford to rely on these reduced haulage costs if you are pricing work in case you get charged the full whack. Bob
  14. For this reason alone I am hopefully about to take delivery of a mobile woodmizer ( thanks to the APF rep). The amount of decent sticks I have run in for chip while I pay a fortune for rubbish fencing products is criminal . I have been stacking timber in the yard for about a month now so when it lands its going straight to work. I was aslo thinking of getting a larger static unit to leave in the yard. Bob
  15. Its like anything , as soon as you allow staff to use equipment it needs to be complaint and be operated by a competent trained person. If the machine is made without a roll over bar with no options to fit one then I would imagine its compliant. The HSE only need to be able to blame someone in the event of an accident so that would fall on the operator, hence the need for the ticket. bob
  16. Sperry springs in Aldershot may be able to help or you could wrap the springs you have with the rubber spring assisters . 1 x Pair Streetwize Coil Spring Assisters 26-38mm Gap POS4 Assister Brand New | eBay As Doobin says it wont make a legal weight carrier. Bob
  17. Its not hard to use £60 an hour in fuel if your loaded and the trucks dogging it up hill and down dale. Bob
  18. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=165744&stc=1&d=1411420241 56 now and my get up and go has got up and gone. Not falling apart yet though and can still outwork all the kids that work for me. Bob
  19. Register it AG, you can always change it later. No iVA and the rest of the cods. Bob
  20. If you need a Mog then nothing else will do , If you need a lorry then the last thing you want is a Mog. Profit is more important than image and ego. Bob
  21. Better explained from here How to measure and adjust your caravan's noseweight - Caravan Guard Blog Extract from above The correct noseweight for the caravan is the lowest of three noseweight figures: that of the caravan chassis manufacturer; that of the tow vehicle manufacturer; and that of the towbar manufacturer. The chassis manufacturer stamps both the maximum noseweight and the maximum load that the coupling is designed to carry on the coupling. These figures are identified by the letters ‘S’ and ‘GA’ respectively. The towcar’s maximum noseweight will be found in the owner’s manual, whilst the maximum noseweight on the towbar will be found on the towbar plate. Whichever is the lowest is the one you have to work to.
  22. GA is the max nose weight for the trailer coupling . Bob
  23. You cant ignore the 750kg chipper market because there seems to be a reluctance for most of the younger lads to sit the trailer test. If there is room for maneuver weight wise in the build of smaller chippers why not improve them a bit . A handbrake would be a big bonus as would a better designed hopper/roller feeds to deal with brash ( maybe include side rollers), an engine fan that blows through the rad rather than sucks dust and chip into it, a decent size glass bowl water/crud fuel separation filter, a sensible deflector on the chutes that stay where you put them and increase the amount of blow through so the chip can hit the headboard of a bigger truck. I also dont see why an in inch cant be added to the blades to increase the capacity of these smaller chippers , surely the stress control will deal with the extra load. ( can you tell we have Timberwolf chippers) Bob
