  1. Put an axe through this lot then And no its not mine. Bob
  2. I had an old range rover with air shock/load levelers on it. When I scrapped it I put a pcl fitting in the compressor and use it for pumping up tyres. A bit heavy duty but really quick and its good enough to blow out saws. I have tried all the cheap ones and they dont last five minutes. This one will run for hours. Bob
  3. And when the human race is finished and has made the world uninhabitable it will be plant life that reduces everything we have built to soil. What would be left of anything on this planet if vegetation went unchecked for a thousand years? And that is a mere blink in time considering the millions of years this planet has been here. Bob
  4. Men in sheds That looks a handy bit of kit for picking away at tree once its on the floor. Even if it was static it would be really handy but to track and load its the nuts. Bob
  5. No he is fine, that is a post feed snap and the little sod just gags down the same amount as the others. He is slim jim normally. Bob
  6. I reckon this is about right. Our 60 cube bin when heaped up but well stacked with fresh cut pine chogs goes just under the 20 ton. I know the piccy is not pine but just an indicator of how crammed in it needs to be to get 20ton .
  7. Forget my post this is a much better idea. Bob
  8. Sod the battery powered tools, for the less money you could buy a suitcase genny and a decent grinder. I have the 18volt dewalt stuff which is fairly good but I know it would not buff up a set of grinder teeth even with three batteries, they just dont have the nuts of a proper grinder. Bob
  9. Well another month has gone by and Drater has still not grown. Less than half the size of his brothers and sisters. Has to be the smallest terrier ever. Still fits in the palm of my hand. Bob
  10. Listen to this man he knows what he`s talking about. We have all been there. Bob
  11. We used to run a Ferrari tractor which looks like the same type of thing. That too punched well past its weight, it spent most of its life mulching off between narrow spaced plantations untill its front parted company with the back. The front section had to be chased down and the stop pulled Bob http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=155805&stc=1&d=1399805355
  12. You need a beast like this then A couple off good hard whacks and they are out. Its one I knocked up on the lathe out of a lump of 32mm bar a few years ago , bit heavy but highly effective. Bob
  13. I found the easiest way to get the splined sleeves out of the rollers was to weld a big nut on to it and slide hammer them out. Bob
  14. We had one of Arboreaters ( Michael Dalrymple`s ) first chucknduck chippers back in the very early eighties on a 406 mog. That would instantly devour a stick as big as you could lob off your shoulder , lethal . I think its still buried in the corner of the yard so I will take a snap of it. I know on one occasion it ate an av topper that a climber left in the hopper, the driver never checked before engaging the PTO. Bob
  15. Why bother with the de stumping ? he wants to re stock with broadleaf so clear the Holly and re plant. Spray off the regen as part of a program. If he is that bothered about all the stumps stick a 20ton 360 in there and power rake the whole site. Bob
  16. Run a mulcher over it and enter into a spraying program. Its the only practical way. We have been knocking over vast area`s of Holly recently. Bob
  17. Burying a goldfish
  18. Despite being told dozens of time not too the lads that do the domestic work have been feeding the sweepings through the chipper destroying the ali blades. Timberwolf`s dont like stones. Bob
  19. The values of timber /chip vary regionally. Around here you would get nothing for the chip but you would relatively get good money for the timber if it was stacked roadside. Bob
  20. This must be the only trade that allows a person to go on a two day course and then loose them into the open with a qualification for something in most cases they know nothing about. This should be a two or three year contractually tied in proper apprenticeship whereby they do their time with an affiliated company, when I say do their time I dont mean a few weeks work experience I mean doing a proper weeks work . Then after a meeting with an assessor to evaluate their performance both in the workplace and with the college should there be any form of qualification awarded. There might be just a tad more loyalty shown to those that have dedicated their time and effort training them before they whimsically jump ship in most cases for a few quid. Bob
  21. A few sticks suitable for carving up for grabs.Seems a shame to run them in for chip. No shake, can load. Between just over a 1mtr to 650mm Dia and 3mts in length. Can load. Bob
  22. Fit a set of these commercial wheel nut markers. You will see at a glance if something is wrong. They are Pence to buy. Bob http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=155158&stc=1&d=1399099539
  23. I ran one of our trucks in for test today and because of a problem on the A3 the place was empty with no other trucks in there. Lots of testers with nothing to do so I had a very long chat with one of the VOSA guys about this Tractor/Mog/agri vehicle roadworthiness thing. He said that these vehicles are nothing to do with them and the only time they get involved is if they are involved in an accident, outside of this its down to plod. I asked if tractor and trailer had a wheel fall off and ended up on its side in a ditch if it would involve them , he said providing no one was hurt it would be highly unlikely for them to be involved and that again would be a police matter. So it looks like around these parts plod is god . Clever traffic plod would be knowledgeable enough to give a tractor and trailer a good checking over at the roadside. Bob
  24. Beat you to it with £20:001_tt2: Bob
  25. As above but we are with Aviva, they have done us a deal on insurance for things like mewps and bowsers which is very reasonable because of the relatively low annual mileage. You can for peace of mind run any vehicle through vosa and obtain a vehicle certificate of road worthiness. This not an anual test but just a ticket to say its in a roadworthy condition. Bob
