  1. Cant help but think of spitting images every time I see him. [ame] [/ame]
  2. I remember reading something on this issue of school run minibuses, its a risk assessment , insurance and liability nightmare Jon. Far easier now for schools to hire in a minibus and competent driver for the occasional trip out. Competent underlined Jon because of the amount of teachers that have crashed these things when full of the most precious cargo on earth. Bob
  3. Bluebear trading Concrete Sleepers | Blue Bear Trading Dean they work out a tenner each with VAT and delivery to the south of England. Bob
  4. Had a lot of tracks to repair and edge recently and have been using these concrete sleepers upturned, the client did not want kerbs but liked the look of these. Really solid job ,the lorries can drive on or bump them and they dont move. About a tenner a piece delivered and a hundred on a load. 2.8 mts long so good value, also got about 30 reo bars in them so you wont be breaking any. Bob
  5. I think Tyson Fury wrote Trumps manifesto. Bob
  6. Thats a bit along the lines of my Rayco. I would go direct drive because they dont get tired like hydraulic stuff does after a few hours , where these win aside of the grunt is the capacity between the wheels and under the deck . There is so much space under them you never have to move because the grindings never stop you carrying on. Brilliant for site or forestry work. Bob
  7. Pretty sure it was Spud but could have been one of the other saw gods, the reason was along the lines of the fuel with more oil has a higher viscosity which in turn will flow less easily through a jet than a lighter mix . Bob
  8. Same here we use cheap old carlube 2t in everything without issues but as Spud pointed out a while ago the more oil you use the leaner it will run. I suppose the thing to be mindful of is to stay with whatever you go with once saws etc are tuned accordingly and be prepared to retune if changing mix or using other peoples fuelmix or oil . Bob
  9. Its a 3k truck with a 2K body on the back so its 5K + all day long, I like it. Bob
  10. One of our twonks that does not know how to engage a freewheeling hub:banghead:
  11. Processed from a storm The World's Largest Wood Stockpile Is Absolutely Insane
  12. Brilliant Eddie, it doesn`t get better than a Liebherr with all the bells and whistles but you dont need telling that Bob
  13. Your man Bob Carmichael made it into the Classic and Vintage commercials mag with that old Volvo F88 this month, really good read. The trucks a bit like triggers broom, Bob seems to be a bit of a celebrity and is still going strong, he reckons there is still life in the old girl yet. Bob

    Silly saw

I bought this turbocut from Oakes Bros the other day for £25 ,cleared a fallen willow across a bridleway about 9" diameter with it because I couldn`t be @rsed to go back to the yard for a saw. Not bad
  15. The paste turns red on contact with water only and not affected by diesel so just need a smear on the stick for a few inches and push to the bottom of the tank or barrel. Its does not creep either , I measured the water in the bottle and it was exactly the same as the red mark on the stick so its pretty accurate. Bob
  16. Not a chance with the big boys, their legal teams would eat you alive even if you did managed to get one of their off shore SPV`s into a court room. You may scare Mrs Miggins with this crap but no chance with bigger outfits. Bob
  17. Thats the seating position to have if you suffer with a bad back, step in and step out rather than peel yourself off the seat. For this reason I am using a Delica now, all the others are a stretched out leg position which plays havoc on long journeys. Bob
  18. I was given a tube of this gear to try out, it is specifically for testing tanks for water residue. Smear some on a dipstick and just dunk it in the tank, the presence of water turns the paste red . Available from here https://www.oilybits.com/water-removal/kolor-kut-water-finding-paste/prod_149.html Smear a bit on a stick. test bottle with water/diesel It shows the exact amount of water so you can tell how much is at the bottom.

    Prices

I am curious as well, my mate is doing these loads at £80 and I think he is a bit on the light side. Its all seasoned and measures 1.3 cubic mts.
  20. I agree, I have killed a couple of timber cranes and find the hiab/brick cranes more suitable for the general abuse of dragging/wrestling oversize timber onto a trailer. The downside as Pete says is the speed, I was running timber into a yard for a few months using our set up and it took me at least ten minutes more to unload vs the other trucks in and out of there. Current crane is about to die but have got another brick crane to replace it. Bob
  21. I know plenty in this game including us which are permanently owed between £50-£80K. Its a sort of rolled over amount thats permanently outstanding, it obviously has a knock on effect but you either join in or get out. As for non payers there are three types, those that go bust, those in financial difficulties and then those that habitually knock people. The ones that go bust have to be written off ( in excess £20k last year:thumbdown:), the ones having problems are ok as long as they keep in touch and dont go quiet, then there are the knockers which go in my black book and can expect a very eventful visit before I die ( guaranteed). Bob
  22. I do rough old arb waste loads like this delivered for around £450 if its local
  23. How can you get rid of them on the telly? http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=194521&stc=1&d=1449255405
