  1. The dark bit looks like Mahogany. I like to leave a few bits longer and then if I get bored I can split them down and make spoons or whittle something out of the wood pile.
  2. It's overcast here so there was no chance of watching the eclipse but it did go cool and shady for a while, dropped from 14°c to 7°c and now it's brightening and warming back up. Nearest stone circle to us is Nine Ladies and it's not very impressive but you do get some loonies wandering round there at equinox.

    Veg oil

    If you use veg oil does your chain cut cleaner chips ? Do you leave it in the saw when you are not using it ? I've seen bars caked in oil which has set and does it do the same in the tank or pipe and pump ?

  8. I chuck the ash from the wood burner round the bottom of the apple tree in the garden and it doesn't do it any harm but I don't know if it does it any good either.

    It looks like a Hazel twig, how big was the tree ?

  17. Don't put your finger where you wouldn't put something you value very highly. Why does it always have to be wrapped up in mush like "what you'd like to tell your past self" and not just "what I wish I'd done instead of wasting my time" When you are young you are not thinking like a mature adult and if you went back and told yourself what to do you would probably tell yourself where to go with your future advice

  20. Chips away man who comes to the bike shop has a hot air gun with an attachment that makes a great job of plastic welding.
