  1. The one near here got done by a Loadall. They hoisted the cash machine out and dropped it into a stolen Vivaro with the roof cut out. Obviously cleverer than your criminals. They should put C4 in, die packs not dye packs.
  2. Near Chesterfield Jon. It stopped raining for a bit this afternoon and brightened up but it's rained again since. Looks like more of the same till dinnertime tomorrow.
  3. Miker has offered the filter, who's going to give him the elbow ?
  4. What car are you going to tow it with ? Unless it's a decent size don't automatically assume you can tow 750kg unbraked with it. I have Granddad towing on my license being an old git and tow a trailer tent which is braked and it is easier to tow than my little unbraked 4' log trailer when it is loaded. This is with a Berlingo with 1100 kg braked towing limit.
  5. It's been mild 12° C overnight but it's still the same now and it's been hissing down all morning.

I set the idle fast enough to keep the saw running while adjusting the L screw then turn it down to stop the clutch throwing out once it doesn't stall. I can't say if there's a setting for it like the other two screws.
  7. I always repaired my own vehicles and the only thing I had done recently was a bearing removed from a hub I took to the garage. Any welding I do myself and always have. Garages are bodgers when it comes to welding they do the minimum possible for the most they can charge and slap a load of gloop on to disguise it. If your motor needs welding work it is not going to last you much longer. Start looking for a new van don't delay the inevitable and keep throwing good money after bad.
  8. If I was closer I'd come and dig it out for £60 one afternoon. I dug a bigger one out of the garden here with a mattock and hatchet. Leave it another 6 months and it will be rotted to ground level anyway.
  9. A bloke came in the bike shop for MOT and his bike was not on the system. When asked he said he had a false plate that he used the bike on and had forgotten to refit his real one for the test. He was sent away and told to come back with the genuine plate and this is in the days of NPR and cameras. Some people just don't seem to care.
  10. That's where it would be handy to have a battery to try a tester on. I can't help you but anyone who can would probably appreciate if you listed all the readings you need and how to read them all in one session. Are you looking to use the saw motor to power one of your electric bikes or to cut wood faster ?

There's probably a lot of oil in the crank. Get it running and run it till it is properly warmed up on fresh fuel with the correct oil ratio. Is it low on compression or is it the easy start confusing the issue ? Look on Youtube for tuning a saw videos they are a good source of information and pretty much the same for all makes.
  12. We tried my friend's 039 this afternoon. It's just had new rings and the carb done and it's still horrible. My Husqvarna 135 was leaving it standing. He is really fed up of it and is looking for something about the same capacity but he wants a Stihl.
  13. I blame it on Father Jack myself 😁
  14. Bit of a slow news day or something ? The picture is useless it doesn't say which side of the wall the tree was in the picture or show any evidence of the tree, what variety or how mature it was. It looks like they are just drumming up work for solicitors.
  15. The paint on my old 036 looks cream not grey. Paint the saw with grey primer then lacquer over it.
  16. Kemppi Minarc mig doesn't have pulse but it goes very low on amps, perfect for thing steel and car body work and it will weld up to 5mm from a 13 amp socket and run on an extension lead no problem. It's supposed to be generator friendly as well if you have one big enough but it needs to be about 8kva to do the job properly.
  17. If everybody posted daily reporting that their saw didn't break down today the forum would be very busy though
  18. I'm officially fed up of hearing how the echo chainsaw is going to save the planet and make my sex life better while curing all known illnesses and now know how foolish I was to buy a husqvarna and a Stihl and I am going to go for counseling to help me get over my angst. Please stop rubbing it in and let me keep using them till they break down irreparably even though I have had no problems so far I am unable to use them without a feeling of doom and gloom.
  19. Chainsaw on the end of a pole What are the rakers like on your chain ?
  20. Brace and bit are not hard work but they are slow, probably even slower in wet wood with a spade bit which is what I used with them. I'd rather wait 15 minutes for the rechargeable to top up nowadays. Pick up an old cordless and convert it to run off your car or a jump battery.
  21. I have had a little Kemppi inverter mig for a few years now and it's a brilliant machine. I welded a mower deck the other day and the metal was about 0.6mm thick, it did it no trouble without blowing holes all over the place. The multi function machines are getting more popular now with scratch or lift tig and stick being handy add ons.
  22. I've only used 4043 or 5356 tig wire for aluminium and never anything exotic. 6013 is aviation grade material from what I can see on Google so it's never going to affect me.
  23. Blindstickinsect has a chart on his eBay listings which I find handy.
  24. I've been welding 40+ years and never heard that before, post us a link will you Mig welding you only go uphill on thicker than 5mm in my experience, not very often I weld that thick any more. Tig and mig mild steel wire are 70S-2 or 70S-6 usually or A15 tig wire. Downhill stick causes problems because the slag runs into the weld.
  25. If you say his name three times he is bound by mystic law to appear, a bit like Rumpelstiltskin or Beetlejuice. I think you are just waiting for it to happen and are disappointed he has kept away. More credit to him than you
