  1. They are called freeze plugs in some countries, not usually reused though. They are sold by size and don't cost much. Clean the hole out well and fit with a bit of sealant.
  2. Our little Hunter stove doesn't hold that much wood, I'll stick with my tried and tested paper, sticks then chunks method.
  3. I just asked next door's dog what the weather's like and he said "rough". It's wet and windy but he's no meteorologist
  4. I do it with the brake off so I can see when the clutch engages and starts the chain running.
  5. If I can't find any info I usually start 1 or 1.25 turns out on both and set the tickover up while keeping it running on the trigger then fine tune the L screw to stop any bogging
  6. About 50 mph wind here and stopped raining now but more to come.
  7. It's a Walbro, do the screws have limiter caps ?
  8. You say it starts with the brake off but does the chain run all the time as well ? Mine did that and the oil pump drive had seized to the crank.
  9. As long as the pipe fills the grommet in the tank wall and doesn't leak it should work whatever it is made of (if it's fuel resistant)
  10. I've never taken notice before but I saw a big clump in an Ash tree in Cromford as I was riding past the other week. It seems odd to see green in an otherwise dormant tree.
  11. It looked like a recipe for disaster eventually if you have to keep shoving it back while cutting The tree was amazing how it held all that water. I'd have been tempted to cut it off and fill it with soil and plant something in the top.
  12. I bet it brings a tear to your eye Take the plug out and pull it over a few times see if it's sticking in any one spot.
  13. It's glue innit ?
  14. As my grandson said to me when he was still into things like this " It's not a doll it's an action figure granddad"
  15. I have a cheap hydraulic splitter and I got some oak which split quite reasonably when it was fresh. A few pieces got put aside and only a month later the little splitter wouldn't look at it and the maul and wedges were hard going.
  16. I wonder if they are going to do a 2 seater convertible version ?
  17. The crutches are not going to help pulling or pushing that A canvas haversack with a slot cut in the bottom for the bar and hang the saw downwards inside the bag would be my idea or something with wheels and a rack.
  18. -2.7°c here this morning and that's our coolest yet. Does the car heater work well ?
  19. Is he a Hobbit ?
  20. I wouldn't play golf if you paid me Is the wood you were given going to be a regular thing ? I have my Husqvarna 135 and on a 14" bar it will cut anything I need for firewood. I have an old Stihl 036 with 18" bar bought on Gumtree for £120 and it's a strong saw but I don't cut a lot of bigger wood so it doesn't get used as much as it uses a lot more fuel than the 135. I've looked at selling and just getting one 50 or 60 cc saw like the 620SX but can't make my mind up.
  21. I think I'd want a bar cover on with that
  22. My Dynamac 16" chains come with 2 cutters the same and I find that useful like you to mark your start point.
  23. There is no "r" in death
  24. Young girls or blokes in suits on their mobiles more like. I walk up to the local shop along the High Street and see at least six in fifteen minutes. Blokes are the worst for cutting across you at the lights when you are driving straight on and they don't want to wait.
  25. I get them from here when I can't scrounge any of my own, always good quality wood.
