  1. The crutches are not going to help pulling or pushing that A canvas haversack with a slot cut in the bottom for the bar and hang the saw downwards inside the bag would be my idea or something with wheels and a rack.
  2. -2.7°c here this morning and that's our coolest yet. Does the car heater work well ?
  3. Is he a Hobbit ?
  4. I wouldn't play golf if you paid me Is the wood you were given going to be a regular thing ? I have my Husqvarna 135 and on a 14" bar it will cut anything I need for firewood. I have an old Stihl 036 with 18" bar bought on Gumtree for £120 and it's a strong saw but I don't cut a lot of bigger wood so it doesn't get used as much as it uses a lot more fuel than the 135. I've looked at selling and just getting one 50 or 60 cc saw like the 620SX but can't make my mind up.
  5. I think I'd want a bar cover on with that
  6. My Dynamac 16" chains come with 2 cutters the same and I find that useful like you to mark your start point.
  7. There is no "r" in death
  8. Young girls or blokes in suits on their mobiles more like. I walk up to the local shop along the High Street and see at least six in fifteen minutes. Blokes are the worst for cutting across you at the lights when you are driving straight on and they don't want to wait.
  9. I get them from here when I can't scrounge any of my own, always good quality wood.
  10. My little wood burner thrives on those 3" pieces that I salvage when I'm cutting wood and they give good heat as well as getting more in the stove as you can pack them round the bigger pieces. They have to be seasoned but they are ready quicker than the bigger chunks as well.
  11. I've had a look at the hem on my Husqvarna trousers and I've come to the conclusion that if I needed to cut 2" off the bottom and stitch them back up with the same colour cotton they would be identical to the way they are made and no-one would know any different and if I caught my ankle with the saw it would work just the same as it does now.
  12. Could have been worse, could have been me Start again fresh tomorrow.
  13. Get down off the settee if you're casting and get down the poodle parlour for a trim Friend of mine years ago had hair like copper wire so he cut it short and wore a hat most of the time.
  14. Snow has about all gone here but it still feels cold enough for more.
  15. Grumpy ? Cos he can't find pants to fit and his wellies chafe his crotch.
  16. Common sense will prevail If you cut 4" off the bottom to stop them dragging in the mud and tripping you up they will be safer and if still over your boots how can there be a problem ?
  17. Cut them off and get them hemmed. I have a sewing machine but you could use the iron on stuff.
  18. If it's going to break the brake handle off carrying the saw with it it's not a very good endorsement. You should be able to give it a good whack and it should stand it if it's got to work in an emergency.
  19. That's how it works, the district council has it's own team and runs the local Rangers as well. They have everything you could think of including log mill, stump grinders and chippers. I like their open weekend at Elvaston Castle where they showcase their work and a lot of other exhibitors put their wares and skills on display.
  20. My wife has the same problem and the English language doesn't help at all. I want three volunteers, you, yew and ewe
  21. We all understand plogs talk on here
  22. Our parish council has a lad and dad who do odd jobs round the local amenities and I think they only have a Rav4 with a trailer, a petrol strimmer and a Stihl 181. They still get the job done hiring a flail mower and other bits when needed, plodding along at their own pace.
  23. I got some Dickies clip ons that look like a tape measure to hold my ordinary jeans up and they work well with good clips and they are wider elastic than cheap ones so more comfortable.
  24. We see a lot of Buzzards round here now whereas they were seldom seen about 5 years ago. There are also less Kestrels but more Sparrowhawks round here now, we sometimes get one in the back garden catching the blackbirds by surprise.
  25. Is the Holly one of those Willoughby species ?
