  1. Chap on the allotments used to make a trap from a cooking oil drum, one of the 25 litre metal ones. He used to cut a X in the base and push the points in and when the rats got in they pushed the points aside but they got them in the face trying to get out. Next morning he used to pour petrol in and light it, none of that humane crap for him. We used to have a Fox Terrier who could kill anything with one snap, we called her crocodog she was red hot. She once caught a rabbit while she was on the flexy lead and I had not even seen it.

    New Ms 362

They've made it a different colour ? That's really out there man.
  5. Is it this one ? It looks like a challenge for someone. Silly money already though.
  6. I've never known there be "just one" with rats they always invade as a family and start breeding if there is a food supply. Next door were "feeding the birds" last year and rats came along as bold as brass in broad daylight. There are two walls between us with a small gap and they were living in the gap so I got some limestone chippings and cement and filled the gap. Next door stopped feeding and they soon disappeared. Usually if you have mice it's a sign you don't have rats as they don't co-exist well, sack the cats and get some that will work for a living.
  7. Is waterproofness a real word ? You could do an offer if you buy the left leg you get the right one free just for Steve
  8. Sir, sir, I spelt it right in post #4 Can I hand out the pencils ?
  9. Is Bill on arbtrader ?
  10. How did it "burn out", has it seized or has something actually overheated and melted part of the saw ? A friend of mine has a 181 which has stood some abuse cutting wood like you are describing for a few years now and it's still going well. If I was using a saw for regular property maintenance not just a bit of firewooding I'd go with a farmer or semi pro saw at least and the 420 looks good for that.

I don't put oil in the tank or in car engines either, can't see the sense in pandering to their every whim. Just because someone says it makes sense and provides a lubrication point to do it why should I conform to their standards. All the money I save on grease and oil should pay for any future repairs anyway I do grease the bar sprocket through the hole provided and the clutch bearing actually and it doesn't attract crud or make grinding paste and it takes no time at all.
  13. What's all these boot threads doing in the chainsaw section Jon. Have you got your wires crossed somewhere ?
  14. It's Enya innit ?
  15. It will be spring steel not stainless and anything you do to modify an existing one will probably cause it to lose temper unless you anneal it first then re-temper it after otherwise it will break very easily where it has been stressed.
  16. There used to be a good sized Ginkgo at a school we used to garden when I was on the council years ago. I was interested to find it is also known as Maidenhair tree and is related to fossils of ferns 270 million years old and is the last of it's genus with no known living relatives.
  17. Get some caravan movers fitted to it and use a remote control to move it round. Great minds think alike Matt (fools seldom differ though )
  18. I had two ginger sisters and I was more blonde but whenever I grew facial hair it was that colour. Now my hair is more silver, it's still all there though.
  19. If it's new the teeth should be identical, where did you buy it ?
  20. Having the coastguard on standby with a helicopter might be a bit much A few years ago some friends of mine got permission to fish behind a pub on the Derwent and set to clearing the bank. Not being too fussy they were getting rid of bits by letting them go downstream and it wasn't long before they got some irate canoeists giving them earache. Have you got to take into consideration the possibility of pollution as well, I know it sounds silly to us but someone will bring it up along the line.
  21. I used to arrange it in alphabetical order, Ash, Beech, Birch, Cedar etc. Then I got to F and thought "firewood" and now it all gets stacked under "F" P.S. Only kidding for those who have had the sense of humour bypass operation
  22. What else are you supposed to do with it ? You mean strawberry conserve don't you ?
  23. That's what's left No more custard creams for you then.
  24. What is actually happening to the saw, is it bogging in the cut or not revving out ? It could need setting up properly if the carb has been messed about.
  25. But it's not in the daily mail, it's in the Daily Mash and no I don't sing to my logs I burn them alive and listen to their screams
