    560xp woes

What are the red barn parts like, I found their site recently and was thinking of gettin pot n piston for 550xpg as they are reasonably priced (compared to huskys own) but what quality?cos there's a lotta s.... out there,
  2. Ah sorry, didn't realise was on a more commercial scale!
  3. thought rock stuff meant to be ok, reckon plenty robust enough for domestic odd arb load!
  4. I'd of thought both those little saws would be perfect for breaking down branch wood for burning up especially if your burning boy is not that experienced, good to have sat by chipper n all😀
  5. What about one of these? http://www.rockmachinery.co.uk/saw%20bench
  6. Woodworks how long has it been since invoice? Starscream's comment of worrying after 2 weeks from invoice got me thinking you haven't said how long it's been? 2 weeks is nothing to many with 30 days remittance being the norm and some companies 60 or 90 days. Worth baring in mind, painful as it is😟
  7. We only use husky oil in the m but it states in the manual to use a richer mix if using cheaper brand
  8. We were chatting about this at work recently and reckon it mostly gets shipped abroad coz there cant cant be that big a market for hooky arb/forestry gear in the UK?
  9. Pic 2 you have sliced the son of God in half, lovely grain hope it's worth eternal damnation!😈
  10. Depends on how you view Scotland😜 Seriously though I've done grunt work for old kit n experience, it's whatever works for you innit!
  11. Aha, thanks I have been wondering about and figured it would be hard on props etc
  12. Anyone know anything of putting 6cyl cummins in a defender? Know it's quite a heavy lump but reliable and I thought it would be good for lots of towing etc, any knowledge/thoughts/ input apprecited😀
  13. I do not want to go to the petrol station more than once a week if I can help it as I live and (mostly) work in rural locations, I don't drive round all week with all the fuel on board either! I looked into this in some detail a while back as was felling on west coast with 6 hand cutters an hour from nearest petrol station, we were using well over 30 lt a day and as I said above no problem from retailers (or traffic cops who pulled me on another occasion). As long as it's secured and you have relevant hazard stickers on board what's the problem?
  14. It's down to the vendors policy which generally follows what the local fire service h & s advisor recommends, my local bp allow me to fill 5 Jerry cans because the fuel is in separate place from cab (chip box/buck) and I often fill up 2 or 3 combi cans at the same time. I have been stopped from filling up at all the big supermarkets in the past except in Scotland where i filled 10 cans no questions asked as long as proper fuel containers. From memory t hink you can carry over 240lt legally but you can't store more than 20 or 40 within 10m of residential buildings, unless on a boat
  15. Are they first editions, perhaps?
  16. I agree Mick (and not just because I've cut a few hat stands and I'm not ashamed😀) is much rather see a tree retained in some form than total removal. As far as the OPs tree goes surely the removal of the offending stem will slow the growth of the root system at least for a while?
  17. Holly or young ash IMO
  18. Generally first come first served and I don't really class someone as regular until they've been with me 4+ years, and most of them I can gauge how much they're gonna use from previous years, I do give em a loyalty discount though
  19. I've read that as, in particular, was put in running water (river/stream) to season it quickly and years ago met a horse drawn traveller who had shafts made with young, summer cut, ash that he'd bent to shape in a form and slung in stream for a couple of weeks and when they came out they kept the correct shape, they were very strong and much more flexible than sawn shafts
  20. Spudulike on here
  21. That mirrors my only experience with echo saws! I keep reading all these good things about echo instead of husq/Stihl for felling and we have had fair share of both major problems and little niggles with Husq 550/560 and colleagues have had problems wi new stihls and have been looking at Echo, amongst others, as replacement but that one experience niggles!
  22. Anyone tried this, does it work can't see why not if the angles r right ( and the wind😜)
  23. We cleared an apple tree of it a few years ago, it was totally covered but in the same garden it was on field maple , birch and hazel, which I hadn't seen before or since
  24. I love the feeling of satisfaction when I've released a choked tree from its ivy bonds. Found a dead ferret 50' up an ivy covered sycamore years ago!
  25. I think he's a bit of both!
