  1. Hi, are they definitely leylandii or possibly Lawson? If they are the former and have reasonable form (ie straight single stems) they are a very durable and useful wood, Lawson is also reasonable. Both are often better if only lightly thinned in the past due to their habit of producing lots of co dominant stems. Would've thought youd have to dig out the stumps though!
  2. The oak leaf is excellent: simple but striking, love it!
  3. Yep, young ash and coppice regen deteriorating steadily and larger trees showing much thinner crowns and when felling last winter wet were brittle😕
  4. 50 a t delivered is a good price, I'm paying a bit more than that roadside and I still turn a profit😀
  5. Do you mean standing or felled timber trees or garden/amenity trees?

  9. Yeah, 346/357 are fantastic saws, while I like the power and ergonomics of 550/560 they are too temperamental IMO but that's the way things are going and we can't do owt about it😕

    Treehog

Evening all, this prob not the right bit to post this but the machine pictured was for felling trees, it's called a Treehog, was given to my friend and colleague today and the only info he has on it is it was made by Lane&Whittaker, early 1950s, Sheffield works, Holyhead Rd, Wellington, Shropshire , 27" blade 3hp, 30" 5hp, nice little BSA engine and the blade can be turned 360', anyone seen one before or can shed more light on it? Looks f#####g lethal to use but he does intend to have ago felling with it!😀😀 Thanks, John
