  1. Yep fill mine up every 6 days, but have hospital op soon and have to do nothing for a fortnight and very little for another couple of weeks so hopefully will have the wonga saved for respray, engine swap and tipper revamp.
  2. Bit of a derail but I have a couple of oaks (both about 10cm dbh) that I'd like to move, they were both pollarded about 7yrs ago, what size area should I dig round them and what are their survival chances (assuming I do it October/November time) would probably be 8t 360 doing it?
  3. If I was c3 I would approach the customer and explain the situation and see if they were prepared to pay me whatever c2 had quoted if he's an honest type hell cough up or at worst haggle a further discount if not he's a complete C4 and put it down to experience I would also wish to pour boiling butter down c1's throat👹
  4. Bark doesn't look right to me, first impression was magnolia of some kind
  5. Not a stroke one though
  6. A smallish harvester can do the work of 6+ men
  7. Thanks for replies, I decided against getting it as I've enough 'projects' laying about the place already. But may get the Perkins if I can knock the guy down on it. Mick, that's my feeling on most things American, the smaller stuff is almost an afterthought
  8. I wish I could share your optimism ( I do for the great summer but not the late ash☹️), they've been greening up later and thinning in the crowns year on year, we did a coppice block of mainly hornbeam with about 20% ash in January and ALL the ash had knackered crowns that disintegrated when they hit the deck, saved on a bit o clearing up though
  9. Hate to say it but probably, what part of the country are you in? It's rife everywhere round here (east anglia).
  10. Used someone else's draper battery greaser recently and it was great but now having seen the g coupler think I will go down that route for economy😀
  11. Yep does look very similar but don't think it's low stretch! I did wonder whether the markings are relevant to strength (like the lines on ratchet straps)?
  12. Just been given another rope which was retired from steel erection/roof work because the bit with info shrink wrapped on has slipped off and they weren't allowed to use it without it! It's 10.5mm and seems ta b very bouncy/stretchy with very little sign of wear, some sort of rock climbing rope? Thought someone might id it
  13. What's the rough diameter of the largest bits? (Could be twigs on a tonka toy😏)
  14. I like the sound of it, got a picture?
  15. If any of them are 6' (as mentioned before) you can get good money for them, even down to 3' they can spliced/scarfed to meal a longer bow. To add value to particularly good ones you can quarter it and sell quadrants for up to £75
  16. My dad had a green heart rod, it was a lovely thing, I borrowed it without permission and went ledgering 'down the quay' and it got dragged in the river by a cruiser while we were busy catapulting maggots n ground bait at each other😩, my normally laid back dad tanned my arse!
  17. I've found most boots fine to climb in woodwalkers / scafell / Andrew etc but have never had a climbing specific pair as I do 70% forestry work, I would however avoid the higher leg boots as they constrict movement up the tree
  18. That's brightened my morning😀😀
  19. Does the Village Idiot no longer come on here ( haven't seen one of his surreal posts for a while )? He has an Exeter retort I believe and is in Suffolk
  20. I have palax combi 2 mobile with 13 hp Honda, great machine, I do well over 150t a year with it. Replace main drive belts every yr or so, but that's about it
  21. I'd put money on it being field maple
  22. Good point
  23. I do like that orange mr git! I've been thinking of doing my Landy that sort of colour or Stonleigh grey (Ferguson), but can't decide bold or stealthy🤔
  24. If it's any help my processor runs off a Honda same as yours and the ram is about 3.5" diameter not sure of pump size but it runs on a trio of belts from the engine to shaft with pump at back and 700mm blade at other then belt for conveyor it uses 8 t on hare speed and 15 on tortoise speed. Hope that's a bit of help (and makes sense😀)
  25. Not an expert but I think the ants farm/ milk the aphids for a liquid and the other bug looks like a robber fly of some sort ( bit like a wolf in a flock o sheep)
