  1. No, lockjack 😀 and a an inclination to try spiderjack and srt, I just like ancient methods of time keeping and communication as the pace suits me more
  2. I prefer a sundial and quill
  3. Arbtalk knot guide is a good app
  4. My dad had to rescue me from 40' up a conifer when I was 5, it was either a thuja or a sequoia. I'd 'accessed' it from the slide, I can't remember it, but he reckons I was about 10' from the top n cawing like a jackdaw! I freeclimb trees on occasion (but not at work) always seems quicker than wi ropes in the way
  5. Lovely day, 10 loads out wi the Massey n mowi then this happened😩:
  6. Ha ha great, that's me on a regular bad luck run!
  7. Nice job ddd, timber wolf said the same to me about roller in feed motors: new one 200£ odd, hydraulic place put seal kit in for 60£!
  8. I sold my house.
  9. Also meant to say buy from the importer based at Earsham, nr Bungay in Suffolk as very good service
  10. The Winchmax winches are extremely good value for money, a friend of mine has had one on his landy for two yrs and regular use has had no problems with it. I bought a wee one for a friend to put on his car transporter trailer a few months ago (sub£140) as payment for bringing my freelander back from w country and he really rates it. As well as a lead remote you get 2 wireless controls and if the sender unit fails you can replace it including new controls for about £40 compared to £150 or so on a warm etc. I will be putting the 120000lb one on my landy as soon as I have pennies for it and bumper!
  11. Just out of interest did you just imply that they want you to get the job done just for the wood?
  12. I think, in general, it's not a bad thing as most people who buy a plot just want to be able to spend time in a wood on their own terms and do some hobby forestry, management wise I think it's good cos it's easy for someone to care fore a small block and the varying methods of management could lead to wider biodiversity, more human activity may mean less deer damage as well. It's funny you mention drainage as this is one of my main concerns with selling a couple of plots of mine as it gets very boggy in winter, but one of the reasons I'm selling is to have some capital to do some major drainage and dig a big pond. Other concern is vermin control if I get a couple of proper bunny huggers who don't like squirrels/bunnies/muntjac etc getting shot. As far as inflated prices go small blocks of any land will always go for big bucks ( good for me as I don't need to sell as much😀)
  13. Hi felix, sorry only just saw this, we're about 10 miles south of Norwich
  14. Another 3hrs, think I need a wee saw n dime bar as it's hard work wi the 560 n 15" bar!
  15. Forest.co.uk are sister co to woodlands.co.uk and act as agent so have some different blocks to the latter who only buy and parcel it off for more. Only found this out as I find myself in the gutting position of having to sell some of ours😖 bit too far away for you Gbaz
  16. I'm starting with an owl (that's what it is sposed to b at the mo😳) then I thought maybe some faces in the burred lumps then........logs😀
  17. So after being banned from carving by the misses a few years ago (for my one tracked mind) I promised not to carve owt obscene and spent an hour or so on this big lump of ash that's been hanging around for a while and thought if I posted pics as it goes on ( for better or worse ) it might motivate me to finish it within a yr or two, and I'm lookin for a bit of inspiration for the rest of it, be as harsh as you like I'm a big boy!
  18. Battery went! Thanks guys, just wanted to check it was ok as a secondary anchor point really.
  19. Thanks, thought it might be military
  20. Got given a couple of bits of new rope from a landy that had been used by mountain rescue dog handler, there's a 20m length of n England hi vee and the one pictured below, in need of long strop as mines seen better days it's 11.7 I think
  21. No I have 40 acres plus freedom to work adjacent 70acres. They put every possible hurdle in my way, we had two of the wettest summers on record (****** charcoal sales and there was little sympathy), arguments over living wage/self sufficiency, and when I finally had the council on board someone popped up with a load of bollocks about bats being killed by charcoal smoke (nonsense and their evidence was based on kids setting fires in old chalk mines in Norwich and bats suffocating trapped in the workings no connection with charcoal production) This ensured it dragged on for another 3 yrs, fortunately I had a good, honest ecologist. There's other issues as well but it's water under the bridge now
  22. Took me nearly 14yrs to win the right to live in the woods, that's just to stay not to build and I'm not sure if I'd go through it all again!😔 Nearly everything in planning law seems to be down to your LPA's own interpretation of the national planning guidance which can vary wildly!
  23. It's joined where the two sections meet! The section furtherest away in the photo has a small section of roof built on who's gable butts up against the gable of the other section, four bolts do the lot with 32 amp plugs/sockets for leccy. I've put central hating in and put a join in pipe work underside. This pic might better explain join:
  24. Floor to ceiling height is 315 at highest point. It's in two section but a T shape which we lifted into position with a BIG hiab. Each section is 4m wide x 9.5m long exterior. Had a big row with enforcement officer who said it wasn't moveable even though these delta lodges conform to BS standard for mobile homes (ironic as I got it from the councils housing department when they redeveloped a site!) hope this helps!
  25. Nice little birds! I've got to pick up these wee uns from my sister in Wales soon: They will eventually look like this:
