  1. I hope you don't mean the 1st one as in the 1st pic. I like that one the most. One small suggestion would be to possibly slant the base so that the shell sits at a slight angle or a couple with no base. Just to mix it up a little. Anyway great work and merry christmas!
  2. Garden centre display sounds good yes I like the mostly black 1. Good character and works well looking up to its admirers.
  3. Hi I work local to you guys I'd say it's not the advertisement but more the lack of staff in the area or locally in general. We too have advertised with reasonable rates of pay but with little reply. It seems people going self employed and floating amongst a few companies is the trend due to high demand for staff. My advice would be to up the wage see what you get, negotiate pay after a short trial that demonstrates ability evaluate there worth and offer them what you think would be fair with regard to there worth to the company. If they weren't up to scratch but had potential, highlight there strong points and then possibly put forward ideas and action plan to make them into what you require. Don't forget that the working relationships and environment play a big part in winning the staff at this crazy time. Good luck hope you find what your looking for.
  4. Reasonably happy for what it is who it's for and how much I'm charging but I will do lots of things differently on the next 1.
  5. Finally got round to finishing off the one I started. Was a quick finish total carve was about 3 and a half hrs.
  6. Prob best putting this on the wood craft section mate.
  7. Here you are Si a really quick tea break 1 teenage mutant ninja pumpkin carved with a top handle ms201. For all the ppe police I was suspended from a rope and harness using both hands.
  8. Great carve that would have taken me 4hrs to do the face.
  9. Is there any pics of your piece Roni? Si the lamb does look a little piglet like but it is a short time to carve and think that its a sterling effort mate considering the conditions. I did quite like the cow boy but there were a lot of nice pieces looking at the pics.
  10. Nice 1 Dave 4hrs isn't A lot at all great effort all round. Angel looks good. Did Si (wisewood) carve at the comp.?
  11. Just outstanding mate you should have your own section on arbtalk. Phil.
  12. Nice 1 did you charge them for being there or just make some sales? Also when you carve up some stock I think its best to say that you can re create the piece rather than sell it and then have to carve another. If you carve 10 pieces that take you a couple of weeks and then sell them. You've got to carve another 10 to have the same advertisement the next time you go. It's probably what you realised anyway but thought I'd let you know as it was the mistake I made. I took lots of re-orders but once I let the stock go at the end of the day I had nothing for the next show and no time to carve more because of all the replica orders I'd promised to carve.
  13. Hi Nev, Although I don't know you just want to say well done and keep up with the positivity mate there's always something be it big or small that if you focus on the positives it can carry us through the rough times. Wish you all the best in the future. Peace Phil
  14. A good scaffolder will knock you something up or show you how to put something up. Once you've seen it go up once you can buy the bits that are used and you'll be able to put it up yourself not much to it.
  15. Ps. Your Alice in wonderland was the mutts nutts astounding. I'm sure you've done many other note worthy pieces but that is truly inspirational. Any way I best climb down from your a**e now but you certainly found your calling mate.
  16. Well done mate. Do you get to carve full time? Cheers Phil
  17. I wish I had some holiday I could dedicate for it as my wife's family live In Bristol we could have planned a week there and I could have done it. I really like Andy O'neill's work he is based in Bristol. Keep us posted with who you chose and pics of the work. Cheers Phil.
  18. Forget that it doesn't. Never mind the search continues.
  19. Hi any mechanics out there able to tell me if it's possible to swap everything on my honda hr216 onto a hrd536 deck?
  20. Great piece nice vision looks very well executed well done where did you come in the comp?
  21. Give it a good oiling mate as much as poss. As said above try keep it out of direct sunlight or hot area's. Also as said above splitting will only add to the character but by giving it a treatment will enhance the grain and peeling its life. Nice job!
