  1. It looks like its coming along to me always better to be slimming down rather than regretting a cut that's been to deep. Keep us posted with the progress.
  2. Nice mate like it a lot.
  3. I did this as a very quick carve for a breeder literally an hr rough sawn free style.
  4. Premature postulation again. Anyway yeah that'll almost give someone a fright if it were carefully placed.
  5. Nice work Simon my favourite is the lying down
  6. Wally gets home late one night and wife linda asks where he had been .I got a tattoo . Oh what tattoo did you get? A hundred dollar bill on my dick. His wife was shocked and asked what made him choose that. He proudly replied " well one I like to watch my money grow,Two once in a while I like to play with my money, three I like how money feels in my hand and lastly, instead of gou going out shopping you can stay at home and blow hundred bucks anytime you want !!!!!!!
  7. A man notices a little boy wearin a fireman hat, sittin in a cart bein pulled by his pet dog. When he gets closer he notices the cart is tied to the dogs bollocks 'thats a nice fire engine' said the man. 'wouldn't the dog pull faster tho if you tied the rope to his collar?'. Yes said the boy, but then i wouldn't have a siren.
  8. I have the arbotech and I do like it a lot you still have to use it carefully and must respect there power if they had a throttle control they would be ledge. I always go as far as poss with my saw but as others have said above there are quite a few intricate details ie some types of furring and feathers that aren't possible to create with a saw.
  9. Ok thanks for the help.
  10. Hi guys I'm in the process of felling a nice piece of oak does anyone know much about kiln drying I'd like to make a fire surround and mantle from it and being impatient would like to process it ASAP. Does anyone know where I might be able to dry it for me in surrey?
  11. Personally I'd fix the ms200 and flog it. Get yourself a ms 240 or 260 for roughing out, you may want to put a quarter tip carving bar on it. Then I would get a dime tip carving bar for detailing to go on the 210. Worth giving a few people a buzz about correct carving bar and sprocket kits for each saw and get some prices. If you've got some saw experience then you should be aware of the kick back zone if not do a bit of research this is greatly reduced when using a carving bar. Begin with mushrooms as they are nice and easy to form carve the stem 1st then flip it over and do the top. Do a few then go for something with basic easy form and keep going from there. Hope that helps
  12. You most certainly need to build up some saw competence before attempting to carve really as its a dangerous tool with no exp. cs30/31 Try land skills training in dorking Or plumpton college is probably closer Ring F.r.jones they work with kingswood training and you may get a better deal on the course. The only way you will make additional money is by working as a groundsman for a tree surgery company really. If you want to go down that route it maybe worth thinking about a 9-12 week short course which will provide you with all necessary basic qualifications to become a trainee climber however many company's will expect at least 2 years experience on the ground.
  13. Hi it's on a custom built log splitter it's been professionally made its run by a 6.5hp Honda engine I've found a replacement pump for £140 so hoping that it was going to be a cheap enough repair to not warrant the replacement. I'll get some pics up this afternoon. thanks for replies.
  14. Hi all engine running nicley on the splitter now but now has a hydraulic oil leak from the pump coming out from the drive shaft. I've removed the pump and there's a rubber seal around the drive shaft but Its well attached and I didn't want to force/pick it out without some advice. Should I attempt this repair or take it to someone? Thanks
  15. Hi guys thank you for your advice its a Honda engine and it was the jet inside the float cup it had obviously varnished up removed jet cleaned it replaced started first pull. Thanks again. Phil
  16. Will do thanks mate.
  17. Hello all, I've just bought a petrol log splitter and can't get the 6.5hp engine to start it doesn't look like its seen a lot of work and can get it to fire buy putting a little petrol in the carb. The float cup fills up just doesn't get into the carb from there I'm guessing so Just wondered if any1 has any ideas on what the next step I could try before I whip the carb off. Thanks
  18. Holy Cow!!! Or cows it batman That's the bollocks mate love the time lapse vid. Was this a commission or something you've wanted to carve for a while.
  19. Hi, yes I love carving in oak and beech it takes a lot longer than carving in soft wood but the different grain patterns just make a piece look stunning.
  20. Hi guys looking for a 2nd hand Chainsaw mill 36" would be ideal. Thanks Phil.
  21. Ash not great for carving better for firewood.
  22. Well done mate. I have heard they'd restructured it. It's not that I think I could do it faster by any stretch however I did do the Rfs as a part time course with 2hrs @ college and it was pointless, I spent the last 2 months of the course doing all my research/learning, as it was something like 5 and a half hrs of exams in one day. I just don't want to lose a days work whilst at college. I am not hugely academic and respect anybody that has completed an arboriculture theory course as its a hugely broad subject.
  23. Nice I like your style.
  24. I'll give 1 a go! Pain in the rear if you hit a nail though lol.
  25. I found patches and the niquitin minis, every time I had a bad craving did it for me haven't smoke for 3 and half years.
