  1. Looks like scots pine.
  2. Hi as the title suggests I'm looking to have made a custom iron brand made for my friends wedding initials heart and the date does anyone know someone that makes these or where I might get one done. Many thanks Phil.
  3. Agreed. Durability is key with any new product! I might add an electric start but could see this being something else to go wrong. I also agree with the whole electric saw if 1 had the power of a 201 and a long lasting battery with a spare for a reasonable price id swap tomorrow.
  4. Hi before I purchase a new mill just wondered if anyone had one they aren't using and wanted to sell? Thanks Phil.
  5. So glad I'm not in the chainsaw trousers this week.
  6. Surely your professional opinion tree survey schedule would include all facts just back it up with an overall generic risk assessment with regard to trees in general and cover all risks. Any hazards can be found within the schedule that with your indemnity insurance should be enough is it not??
  7. Hi all was just wondering if any one knew of any good Arb related iBooks?
  8. I'm guessing that there was a lot of hours put in personally if I'd done a piece like this id want between £500-£750. I think it looks great and belongs indoors somewhere that will appreciate it.
  9. When I had mine I replaced the bridge about 4 times. Just remember to check all stitching daily before use.
  10. Sounds nasty let's hope it was a rare insect.
  11. Can't say as i can recall any splinters but some coniferous trees have given me irritating rashes from the foliage on my arms. If you've got the splinter out give it a good clean out and get a small dressing on it.
  12. Yes loctite is what you need. Check the age of the harness as well as most in daily use should be disposed of after 5yrs according to manufacturers. If unsure just have a loler inspector check it over and certify fit for use. This is for insurance purposes as if you or someone else has an accident climbing in it you may not be entitled to a payout.
  13. All sounds good Sean you'll be fine on the 27th mate the family's going to be over the moon, I'm sure there'll be chuffed to have you home. Don't forget to complain about the over grown hedges growing over the footpath you'll have to take your hedge trimmers out with you and charge. Some great pics as well mate keep them coming. Hope next weeks all good for you and fingers crossed the sun stays out its the best medicine. Take care all the best Phil
  14. And a bit of advanced warfare on ps4. Anyway hope your ok Sean and pain is easing things becoming slightly easier etc. All the best Phil
  15. Ms260 standard bar and chain for roughing out back handle ms200 or 201 with dime tip carving bar 1/4 pitch chain and sprocket you have to change the oiler as well but easily done and that one is for detailing. A 4" angle grinder with range of sanding disc pads or carbide donuts. A die grinder with some other carbide bits and sanding mops eye tools. Dremel for fine detailing. There are other sanders and bits and pieces you can get which you'll discover as you get on. Watch lots of vids on you tube you can buy DVDs and books showing you how to carve. All the kit isn't necessary but you'll want it all at some stage if you want to carry on. Most of all have fun and look forward to seeing some pieces.
  16. I think it looks great. It's an owlnix owl cross phoenix. Face and feet look good there just wasn't enough wood to get the wings out. Well done keep them coming.
  17. All great carvings there. They look great for the short carving time four hrs is a speed carve to me lol. Looking forward to see the speed carve pics if there is some.
  18. Cheers Geesaw thank you.
  19. Yeah apparently I had a face on too. Hahaha. I read it to her in the end even funnier out loud between the smirks snorts and sobs. Comical genius.
  20. Yup deaf half blind and massive crows feet wrinkles from squinting. I haven't moved over to constant glove wearing yet but a few more cuts on my hands and I may just. 😂👍
  21. I'm not sure why? Sorry. Carvings are great grizzly face is brilliant ears just needed to be a little further down imo if that makes any sense and he would have been perfect. Still very good for your 1st's well done look forward to seeing some more.
  22. Yeah great vid nicely edited. I'd have to agree that for promotional purposes. Little things like helmets on the groundys visor on your helmet or some glasses. I never used to bother but now I enjoy the benefits of not getting wood chips in my face or hedge trimmings in my eye.
  23. Little too far to drag the family mate for me unfortunately, I would have liked to come up and meet all the carvers and see what masterpieces are formed.
  24. Lol. Hope your having a good day Sean liking the sound of designing your own chair even if the pee idea was a bit tongue in cheek. Village idiot might be on to something with the methane chuck a good madras and an onion Baji in there could be setting some new land speed records.
  25. Yeah as others have said watching you tube vids. Also don't take too much off at once keep the carving fat and take away slowly to start with. Looking at lots of other carvings.
