Aye fire on Jon. Hot water! Wrong thread maybe for this, got a row from a mod the other day and points too, he never said how many, but I feel a bit of a dick for posting what I did! Think maybe decent boots are a lot to do with warm/cold feet.

Makes sense to me Rich! Another option is to make a batch of cement and build it up on top side so water has to run either side, not the perfect solution but simple to do and will stop the bulk of the water.

I agree with that, a dull edge is best for splitting, stays in the grain without cutting through into next grain and hindering splitting. But each to their own!
