    Boiler stoves

I wouldn't like to be without the high temp stat, don't want system to boil. Was a bit concerned about pump coming in at low temps and putting cold water into a hot stove as has been mentioned in a previous post. Are you still on the original stove?

Where are your pipe stats located and what are they set at? Do you use manual switch a lot? If you don't mind me asking!

Interesting! Guess I will have a fiddle with the stats, does your stove do hot water as well as rads?

Just need to turn stat down to bring pump on. Thinking of putting a fan on a stat to shift heat from kitchen where stove is, through to living room. This should ease the overheating issue in kitchen.

Was under the impression top stat was a safety to override bottom stat which switches pump on and off. But you are right as well, when temp reaches 45 stat turns on, then below 45 it goes off.

Pretty sure it said in the manual that 45 stat should be on the return. So, small cylinder, pump would be on sooner than big cylinder. Not easy to find a happy medium. Also if someone has a bath you are back to square one. We have gallons of hot water on tap but rads don't seem to be meeting requirements.

Agreed, 45 isn't that hot but that is the temp at bottom of cylinder so water temp of circulating water is much greater, Think stove is probably too big, room gets too hot while trying to get rads on and to keep rads going you need to keep piling on the logs, just have to live with it I guess.
  8. Just a question about the pipe stats on boiler stoves, I have a stat on pipe at bottom of cylinder coil and another at top of coil, bottom stat set at 45, top at 90 to avoid boiling. Is this standard for boiler stoves? it does take a while for bottom stat to reach 45 and switch pump on.
  9. In the middle of Alex fergusons latest offering, it's an ok read so far but have to say I was expecting more than ok! Good man manager, not a great author! But then again, probably didn't write a great deal of it himself.

  14. Maybe you're just too modest! Call your boss's bluff! Failing that, buy a lawn mower and at least you'll feel you're earning good money👍
  15. Grass cutting is not for everyone and I don't suppose climbing is either, horses for courses!
  16. Think the point is, if you're a grafter you deserve the pay, doesn't really matter if you're pushin a mower, climbing a tree or shearing a sheep!!
