  1. Summer heat!!! You get it easy down there Jon!
  2. Gave my mate a hand with the last of his silage today, nice day for it and good again tomorrow I believe. Feet up in front of the stove now, bliss!! Is the fire lit in Somerset?
  3. Aye, still on Jon, a bit more wind and rain last couple of weeks, it's on earlier every day now, woodpile getting smaller everyday too of course😞.
  4. Mainly building work also keep some sheep, couple of cows, bit of shearing/ gathering and silage work in summer. Arbtalk interest comes from the need to keep the stove going! Had plenty good advice on here and got my second saw here. A good bunch I think!!👍

  10. Would think that cement would be quite brittle and components should separate with a bit of a shoogle! (Apologies for the technical terminology)😏

  12. 👍. A top tip that muldonach, been using it for a number of years now. Never use a hammer, and if log doesn't split it always comes of the maul so never gets stuck in log.

  14. Starting to fancy a splitter now Jon, you hit beech hard it bounces off or splits!! Like it though!!
  15. Still on Jon, beech is good, bloody hard work with maul though !!
  16. We're all jock tamsons bairns! As we say up here! We're all the same, just got different jobs and income!!! But we're all needed!!!!!!!!
  17. It seems to be the way Jon, they sell for megabucks down south then move here and tell us what we're doin wrong, same everywhere I suppose!!!

  21. There's always more than one way to skin a cat! And there's always plenty people to tell you that. Good thread guys, not everyone would be brave enough to show their everyday jobs and how they execute them. Ooh the fear of criticism !!
