  1. some work from today, an Oak table /bench just had two thin coast of boiled linseed applied. I will dowse it a few more times, then will apply some Danish oil, depending upon its final use simon
  2. Well, finally managed to complete something that was hopefully worthwhile this weekend! this board was from the initial Burr Oak I milled. After several hours sanding, and lifting the grain and re-sanding I finally started to seal the grain, which was a relief! so have at this stage just applied some warmed boiled linseed to it. It has been bolted together with four 3" carpenters mate screws and I have seasoning above the AGA an Oak dowl split from a log in my log pile. had dressed it with a draw knife, then will see final finishing with a spoke shave. this will then be used to plug me holes in the tops. Anyway, I am well chuffed

  9. no, not that ive seen Alec, noot sure if you read that thread i linked to but a good source of info at least. Umm, just wondering if mine is original:confused1: going by the amount of new parts needed it will be a counterfiet soon :lol: thanks for the bar details, where yout thoughts in that thread regarding chain skip etc. still current or?
  10. a little readin: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaws/31389-can-you-spot-fake.html
  11. Unused 070 or 090 do not exist or are extremely unlikely to be found outside of collectors hands. That one is an imitation chinese knockoff. There was one one on the ukbay for 900 a while back. Avoid at ALL cost!!!!
  12. door lock on a landy, i will have a look to see if ive got one:lol: sorry for your loss. we wnet away 5yrs ago on our honeymoon to NZ, bastards cleared me right out of ALL kit. quick way to loose 10K in a month

  14. :lol::lol::lol:
  15. as far as i am aware, the 2000 did not sport the coswoth designation. only the RS 200, sierra saphire, sierra rs 500 and escort in the ford line had the badge. however they did also use the badge engine wise on the ford granada cosworth.
  16. from my post, and a link on the last page. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/alaskan-mill/55159-burr-oak-burl-tool-questions.html
  17. yeh got the mini, just awaiting a straight edge and she`s ready.
  18. TP is good, a little pricey, but yeh another tool in the box. i would suggest an hour paying with it, quite an art as i found its initially very grabby but after a little use the edge is off slightly and works much better. s
  19. thanjks guys, pretty much along the lines i was thinking. they will be looking for i would of though 4x4"7ft posts as they are looing for general purpose material for whatever and making arbors around the garden. trunk quantity unknown as of yet, trunk quality should be high as they are woodland oaks, essentialy thinnings i suppose of 20"+.
  20. selling at that price per cube is rediculous in my mind. and i am sure locals who you where seriously under cutting may be offended as well. heck, i would even wanna cut and process for that kinda dough. down south here a bag make 65+. make sure you get a decent saw too as logging up can take a toll, especially on hard woods.
  21. wow, never thought i would ask such a question and i know its a " how long is a piece of string" type question. whats the best format pricing for CSM? a day rate? or cu ft? what do others price themselves out at or how? i have a client that has some Oaks that need dealing at some point, and i wanna be prepared thanks, simon
  22. how do you keep its square? doesnt the saw have a tendancy to pull with no guide rails?
  23. Alec, how long do the drums last in general in relation to the sprockets? should i get two sets or 1 drum and some spare rims? wat say? s
  24. whats on my mates bench, was, is my 090. original ebay listing was " lack of fuel" so we presumed a bad set of carb gaskets etc. gasket came, took carb off to find some numpty had snapped the 6mm stud off in the cylinder head oh and not forgetting the same animal we presume had broken a tap in the top engine casing mounting hole in the fins and then there was the lack of spark no less from the points so my dad has taken the head to work to remove said items so we can move forward hopefully without further ado but the pot n all looks in good condition so atleast they wont need replacing bewarned of ebay tools!!!!!! s
  25. looks good. must hav a go with a spoon. but, if its anything like my bit of dead spalted holly, shes gonna split real nice in many places
