  1. the charnwood made on the island are good for £1200 you can get a 10kva with a built in hotplate so you can boil a kettle or put a pan on top when finished just close lid. have a cast iron one ok but not as good as the proper steel jobs. he is not far from you worth the trip kingsworthy foundry see them on the go or there is a chap who is on the industrial estate just off J2 of m27 next to miles stones got my stove from him very good
  2. get hold of ofcom and raise a complaint. trouble is BT have to have wrote to you explaining why they can not do the work then you can raise a complaint with ofcom and ask for compensation max is £5k. which is aberrated on. i am still chasing them 10 years on for overcharges as we had a party line was paying next door phone bills. still not resolved to this day refused ever to admit there was a party line untill engineer found it and still refuse to admit they are at fault. looks like next course is court. more expense before i can get my money back which is 10k.
  3. always lay uphill so it makes the sap rise on the new pleach and get more vigorous growth if you laid downhill the sap would run out as for laying i get right hand hedges on one at mo i am left handed makes it a bit difficult getting to pleach as trying to cut in the hedge. but if right handed and got a left hand hedge be the same. as for lat ground lay south of england do not lay flat on ground want it sloping a bit with new pleach laying on top so thick in bottom to stop any animal but finishes 3 to 4ft tall at end
  4. thought i was watching stills from a episode of swamp loggers:biggrin: some nice kit seen the diggers working in scrap yard got a good view when up in air

  6. just had a email from the local countrywatch officer thought i would pass on. Thank you for your enquiry, it is true that the UK is experiencing a higher volume of rural thefts, especially those involving plant machinery and equipment, including Arboriculture kit. All thefts from locked metal storage containers in our area, involved the offenders removing padlocks, i have yet to experience or see doors being ripped off completely, but that does not mean that that method would not find it's way into Hampshire in the future. Stolen property (of any description) can only be reunited with it's lawful owner if it can be identified. The UK Police recover £millions of stolen property every year and it is sad to say that the property is never returned as it is often unidentifiable. We support identification schemes such as Cesar, Smartwater, Datatag and many other products on the market. We always advise people to use free identification registration services like Immobilise.com It is sad to say that over 95% of the UK population does not record or keep records of property and serial numbers, a simple and free way to protect our property and it is often overlooked or forgotten about. If we can encourage people to keep a record of property, serial numbers, cost, description and even take a photograph of the item, then this would go a long way in recovering the stolen item. We know that most stolen rural plant and equipment, including Arb kit is being shipped out from our local ports, destined for Africa or the Eastern Europe block, but as stated above, if we can not identify the property, how can we confirm it's stolen? so it looks as if you need to have it datataged, serial numbers logged photo of kit etc then it may, get reunited with it lawful owner

  9. good to see link re thorn infection will have a read. do not take any chances now i got a blackthorn stab me in face. for a week i had a swollen face and on strong antibiotics, that was due to wearing a chainsaw helmet. got jammed in ear defenders and flicked into face so helmet does not get used now when laying hedges. found the best hat a aigle flat cap with ear muffs never get anything in my head. draw back if a big head need to cut back to make bigger but a small price for a decent hedging hat i had a look around and the link digga put up look the best place and price is good. but do not no of any arb shops selling them.
