  7. Have a look at hort weekly or what kit for some good reviews on cordless. Husky 536 lir / lil came out top in recent review. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Bigger diam cord (and of course trimmer heads with more than 2 cords exposed) hugely increases engine load and thus temps with obvious risk of potential seizure if everything else is less than perfect. Engine revs should aim around 9-10 thousand rpm. Much less results in clutch wear and higher vibration exposure. Too high rpm results in higher temps (running thicker cord as well...getting into seizure territory!) high fuel consumption and increased gearbox temps leading to gear wear and possible bearing failure and wear to the drive tube assy. As engine load changes through different grass conditions (and cord length due to wear), the amount of throttle applied should change accordingly to maintain the sweet spot. 3.0 is plenty big enuf diamter...if thats not thick enuf for the job then use a blade! Dont underestimate how much load cord places on an engine. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  12. I have never found a successful way of testing a coil other using a test plug. If it sparks its good, if it doesnt...its buggered! (and that includes very expensive coil testers) Just make sure the ground wire is isolated to clear up any issues with the switch. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  18. The 40:1 ratio is very common in the US as the fuel is typically of lower quality / higher in ethanol and other additives than in europe. Best be safe and use a quality branded oil and go with the recommended ratios. 25:1 is quite high mix ratio and unless it states to use that i would consider revising...Remember you can do just as much damage using too much oil as not enough... Excessive oil can cause the piston ring to become gummed in and allow hot gases to bypass leading to scoring of the piston and ultimately a seizure. Excessive carbon deposits can also increase the engine temps and if a carbon build up breaks off it can cause a major failure. Check the plug condition if you have been using the same plug for a while..this will be an indicator of the piston and exhaust port state of health. Not too mention the environment and the fog of smoke that you will be enduring as a result of higher oil use. Regards Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  22. Its products such as these that the european parliament love... They are desperate to ban the sale of TH saws in the EU and the code of conduct undertaken by mainstream manfs. is that these saws are only to be sold to qualified operators (no idea if u are or not obviously, hopefully you are) but also that it is sold by the specialist trade and that they are of a quality and thus price that places them outside the radar of the casual, untrained user that has their eye on a nice little compact saw! The fact that the site is advertising that its perfect for home use and "stress free logging" is appalling and as for genuine oregon bar.....hmmmm yeah right! Products such as these are jeopardising the long term sales of an important tool to the professional arborist. Rant for the day over! (in a bad mood as i have just had an unwelcome visit from a member of the travelling community and now My inventory is minus 1 chainsaw. Save ur pennies and buy a recognised brand that you can get spares for. It may cost a bit more even for a second hand one but if you ever sell it, it will still be worth something unlike the 'titan' which the bin man wont even want! Pay your money -takes your choice Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
