  1. True but as we need to invest in the product, try to market it and answer customer queries it is difficult when all ive got is, it comes with a 10" bar, 25cc engine and weighs 2.7kg. Plus when I do a bit of googling some of those specs seem wrong! We are supposedly getting some in in Jan, will be interesting to see what its like but if it doesnt beat the echo or at the very least be on par with it then its going to be a big flop. Cheers for the info. I never have had any dealings with the T425 but have had quite a few owners of that machine asking about this new one. If you can divulge, why do they not need to bother with autotune on the smaller saw? I thought all 5 series were getting the AT treatment!
  2. As this is already out there now, how does it compare to the old t425 or is it a different machine? Unfortunately I have no info on this saw even though I have had to pre order some. It would be nice if us dealers could get a heads up once in awhile. Especially as it interests me. Usually we are the last to know, I have to watch AT to find out the latest info
  3. Plus they thought it best to pack some grease in there too, I suppose to catch the alu filings, would have then been a good idea to flush it out! Hence the gunk on top of the piston. That also caused the piston ring to stick in its groove. Luckily no damage to the cylinder so new piston ring and a couple of gaskets, plus the new helicoil it runs like a good un.
  4. Sorry, I meant to post today but have been out enjoying a bit of Christmas festivities. I was going to reveal all but if you after another clue, this was down to primarily owner and then "mechanic" error, nothing on the saw failed under its own accord. The repair involved a bit of cleaning, a replacement part of sorts, new piston ring and gaskets. I did it for a good price £80 as the owner is a nice guy and has spent a fair bit on this saw in the past (he is rough with it mind and does like to smash his saws up) and had reached the point that if it needed a new piston and pot it was getting scrapped. That was from my initial analysis of nowt all compression, must be something nasty.
  5. You're correct with the aluminium particles but there is also something else there, granted not the best photos. The next pic would reveal all, well it sort of would. The first sign was 0 compression, you couldnt tell the difference on the pull cord if the spark plug was in or not, i kid you not.
  6. This was something I havent seen before. Saw is a T540XP. Have a guess at what is covering the piston and why.
  7. Its the way forward for two strokes. Well, its the only way forward from what Ive seen.
  8. We have been selling quite a lot of the new Husqvarna X-cut chain and have had fantastic feedback on its performance. I thought I would just post the info here for those who dont know about it. It is targeted at 550xp and 560xp users ALTHOUGH you cant just use the chain on the standard bars as it has a 1.3mm gauge opposed to the 1.5mm standard setup. Therefore we put a discounted package of bar and chain together a couple of months ago and it is selling extremely well. £32.77 inc VAT for a 15" bar and chain isnt bad at all. Bar and chain package. Its no good owing the most powerful chainsaws available and then putting an inferior cheap Chinese chain on the most important bit, so give it a try.
  9. We only found out about these a couple of days ago! I presume there aren't any dealers with them in stock yet but there must be a few people who have done a bit of R & D with them? Look nice and they will have to be good as the price is in pfanner territory. There is just far too much choice these days.
  10. Well where are you then? Ooops, just realised you said PM..
  11. Last bump in the hope that it might save someone a pointless journey.
  12. We have sold a fair few of the DMM XS bat plate as a multi attachment point for harness bridge's. http://www.skylandequipment.com/dmm-bat-rigging-plate-xs-orange.html
  13. Just bumping this.
  14. Not really as you an swap the II parts over to the first generation but it will say if it is a II on the ID plate behind the sprocket cover. The II parts are the fuel tank, rear AV spring, the cylinder cover which is the grey plastic piece the rear AV spring attaches to and then some other bits like coil, flywheel and IIRC carburetor.
  15. Dan and old mill, thanks very much. John P, as already said the 360 runs really well and you shoudnt need a 1/4 chain, the 2511 doesnt even need one, it runs great on a 3/8 too! As spud said check the H and L needle settings, you will need a D shaped screwdriver and then give it a good few tank fulls to run in. I have the Standard settings in the workshop and will post them up here tomorrow.
  16. Just a quick heads up to let you know that we are no longer open on Saturdays. Still open Monday- Friday 0815-1700. I hope it's ok if I bump this thread over the following week as we do get quite a few people who travel a fair way to shop with us. Cheers Mark
  17. Thanks a lot for the info. Spare parts for all brands is something we are focusing on. We carry way more stock than the small number items we show on our web site, just takes a fair bit of time to take photos, write descriptions etc. Hope you get your saws sorted asap.
  18. If the UK importer doesnt have spares in stock it can take quite awhile to get them in from Japan unfortunately. I have had to strip parts of a new saw before now due to the waiting time. Just out of interest what parts have broken? I only ask as we are increasing our stock if spares and it's good to know what needs replacing more often.
  19. Exhaust was full of oil? Edit, I guess your picture shows that now!
  20. I have had a similar issue with a bg86, it had the easy start starter system. Unfortunately I never found out what the real issue was as I couldn't find a problem with anything and then it just started to turn over as normal! I would check the starter system because if it is the easy start type it could be binding somewhere when it has some resistance ie when the plug is in. I think that was something to do with the bg86 I mentioned but like I say I couldn't find a faulty component so I cleaned and greased it. If that is ok then I doubt there can be any oil/hydraulic issues now after what you have done ie plug out, saw upside down and lots of punting, so if the plug is the correct one I would be inclined to put it back together and give it a bit of welly.
  21. Two completely opposite opinions on the blue tongue and tachyon. No offence to the two posters I hope you don't mind me just pointing out how difficult it can be to recommend equipment in this industry. If it's any help to the op, we have tried imori out in the past with a zz, didn't tend as well as the tachyon but felt grippy in the hand. Sorry no specs on the rope or limelite as we don't sell it.
  22. Cheers Sawchip. I will check out today machines, sounds interesting. In regards to post about battery back packs, husqvarna do make them but you have to plug them in with a lead. I don't think you can charge from a distance without microwaving whatever gets in the way!
  23. Yes there seemed to be more and more private companies and not enough tree work.
  24. Move from the end user to the supplier side of things. Like all new business it does take a bit of time for things to work and this year has been the important turning point for us. It was this or drastically change the way our tree business ran. Trying to compete in the private sector was becoming desperate to say the least.
